Optional PDK Gear ****
Has anyone tried to replace the standard PDK gear **** with this optional one? I wonder how difficult the installation is.

Is that the optional $750 factory aluminum one? How much is it an an aftermarket part?

Burning Brakes
I am trying to figure out why it is so expensive? Is it made out of a precious metal?

still looks ridiculous, I very likely would never buy a Carrera if that or the standard shift lever was all that was available. So emasculating looking IMO

You are not alone. I went manual with 992 mostly cause I missed shifting, but my bridge car (e39 m5) was also manual, and I had kind of gotten it out of my system. If I'm honest, I miss PDK, but I will not buy a PDK 911 until the shifter is changed for something like the GT3 992 shifter.

There is always this option (same as ebay one above but way less $$). Cannot say its any less silly looking, but at least its round.

I was concerned about this also but once I got my car I found that the stock shifter looks modern and matches all the rest of the knurled switch gear, I do like it and it certainly isn’t a reason to dismiss the current 911.

Not the look of it that bothers me, it’s that I want to use it to actually shift! I also would never buy a PDK 992 even though I quite like the PDK transmission, I get a lot of satisfaction manual shifting with my right hand and think I’d miss that. I drive my 981 PDK 100% manual and probably 90% of shifts are with the kn0b.

I completely agree. The manual and GT PDK shifters look incongruent to the rest of the cabin design IMO.

YES, it’s call “Porschenium” which is a rare, exotic mineral found only at authorized Porsche dealers, usually it is incorporated into components used to build 911s. There is only one mine known to exist in the world where one can extract Porschenium, located near Stuttgart. It’s part of the family of rare earth minerals, one of the other ones you may have heard of is called unobtainium which is even more rare and expensive.

Well why doesn't the aftermarket make a better choice for this - it would probably sell well, given the price point and the lack of enthusiasm for the factory shifter.
