Optional PDK Gear Knob

Because most customers are probably fine with the standard shift lever. Don't forget that minor things get amplified in enthusiasts forums (Porsche or not).

YES, it’s call “Porschenium” which is a rare, exotic mineral found only at authorized Porsche dealers, usually it is incorporated into components used to build 911s. There is only one mine known to exist in the world where one can extract Porschenium, located near Stuttgart. It’s part of the family of rare earth minerals, one of the other ones you may have heard of is called unobtainium which is even more rare and expensive.

The optional PDK shifter just reflects the nature of almost all 911 options; whether alternate color seat belts, additional leather here and there, basically everything. It is a much nicer piece than the standard shifter (though the standard shifter matches the switch gear). The Ali Express doesn't look half bad, but they should offer alternatives to the alcantara **** (smooth leather to match interior).

On balance, I think it's worse than the standard gear selector. It does not look any better, and its bigger size gets in the way of buttons and switches above it.

I have read however that the standard shifter sometimes has cracking in the plastic surround.

I have to say, the stock one with the carbon inserts looks pretty good. But it looks like you have to buy the entire center console kit to get it.

They need to poach some AMG designers. Their exclusive team is way too conservative with their designs.
