Did they give you an official demand order in the system showing your info and spec with a V70 status? I say this in the friendliest manner and not be a party pooper but if it’s CA and you jumped onto the msrp list, do not be surprised if you never hear a peep on that allocation in 2023 or beyond. Unless of course there is more to the story such as long history with the dealer or a trade they are wanting really bad etc.

Theory on C2 base allocations...the 992 Base is significantly more car than previous Base 911s, aka same engine as the S except smaller turbo, and same widebody as the S and the GTS. And the performance is at older gen GT levels. As a non-track daily it seems less of a budget choice and more of a good way to go. Bias alert, I have a high spec base on a boat right now. Heck there's a CPO Base with Miami Blue PTS at my local dealer right now, never used to see that.

What are the highlights of your build, if you don’t mind sharing?

Back in late 21 when I got my C2 allocation, it seemed like that was all I was able to find in CA with the lowest ADM and without being placed on a waiting list. I paid a $15k ADM...I can see Porsche shifting focus to higher value trims to help lift margins for VW's coffers.

Reading with interest as the Base vs. S vs. T vs. GTS debate never ends. Coming from owning an ordered 987s MT for 15 years, my intention was to grab a Cayman 4.0 or GTS. No luck with allocations. Fortunately the local dealer had an unreserved Base 992 cab allocation ready to config. Never really considered a 992 or cab, but very happy I fell into the opportunity. Absolutely great car. Enjoying the top down experience. Tons of torque throughout the RPM range and excellent handling. HP and 0-60 time are equivalent to GTS and Turbo models a few generations back. These cars get better with each new generation. There is no “lesser” 992.

My build just reached its freeze date so I can say the production line in Germany will have at least one base 992 on it come end of Feb. Would be interesting to see the ten 992s on the line before and after mine rolls on by, I would bet all higher trims. That said, maybe check again as I would think if my car is being built end of Feb then other base 992s must be as well.

similar story, a year later, was offered allocation for base, lock late Feb, deliver mid April. I don't have info about which is easier to get.

The argument that the base is a budget car is laughable. Porsche planted the idea that the GTS is the sweet spot car and now everyone parrots that idea without much thought. Smart money says it's the base/T. Bias alert: I have a T on order.

your base barely qualifies as a base

how do I check that? I got an email from Porsche North America thanking me for the order and a thank you video from CEO Porsche NA. I assume that means it’s in the system? What should I ask my SA for?

No regrets going with the “base”. The car is so great. This is our build. Would not change anything. https://configurator.porsche.com/porsche-code/PPCMGVA4

Your SA should email you the official demand order. The sheet looks like an invoice of sorts. It will have your dealers name as the "sold to address" on the upper left and your name and address below as the "Customer Address".

In the upper right hand corner will list:
Dealer No: xxxxxxx
Order Type: Customer Vehicle
Vehicle Status : V070 - Order Demand Released for order (this is the important one for now)
Price type: Retail

Below all of this is then a listing of the model and options with itemized prices.

Keep in mind a V70 demand order is nothing more then the dealer telling Porsche Cooperate that they have a customer ready willing and able for this particular car. It's not an allocation unfortunately nor does it guarantee that dealer will get the allocation in any meaningful time. However, IMO it is better then being on a dealers internal "waitlist" which so many of the claimed MSRP buyers here are on (that one really means nothing). One would hope that whomever in cooperate does grant allocations will at least use the Demand Orders as guide as to which trims to allocate. I can say from my own experience, even though I had an official demand order in, my dealers next round of allocations did not include my trim, thus the wait. I did get the allocation however on the next round. That is when Demand turns into a real order and is in V200 status. Dealer will then email you again a similar sheet as the demand, only now in the status section it will officially say V200. Then and only then does one have an allocation. You will not see many forum members here posting their V200 build sheets and being able to claim they have a no story attached MSRP deal.
