Default Replacing Steering Wheel

I am looking to replace the standard steering wheel on my 2021 C2 with the GT wheel from Suncoast. I called my dealer for a price to make the switch. Guess how much ? $ 450. Can anybody recommend an independent garage in Phila central jersey area to do what I think is a simple job. I do not have the confidence to fool around with the airbag.

Thanks

Mike

$450 isn’t bad to not have to deal with any airbag issues. I replaced a steering wheel on an Audi in the past. Pretty easy to do with the correct tools, but the whole time I was fearing the airbag going off. Typgualky there are 2 hex screws that are accessed on the back of the wheel to remove the airbag. It was a triple square bit for removing the wheel itself.

It is a simple job, I recently did the same. Removing and installing the airbag is easy, just make sure you disconnect the battery first. Any shop or DIYer could do it in 30 minutes.

1. Disconnect negative terminal on battery
2. DIY difficulty level is 2 on a 10-scale

There are two YouTube videos that walk you through it step-by-step.Ihave done it twice. After you disconnect battery, wait at least 30 minutes to drain any capacitors in the airbag system.

Does anyone have access to/or know what torque that bolt should be set to?

Stealership code for BOHICA. I wish this wheel was offered when I built my T, perhaps I'll order and replace the heated GT in leather I'm receiving any day now!

None of the videos I watched mentioned torque. They all just used a ratchet and hand tightened.

Techart steering wheel instructions say 50 Nm (36.88 ft-lbs). They don't specify which bolt, but since it's the single value I assume the center triple square bolt.
