My review? Not that impressed.

Getting the app to work with the camera has been impossible, and I’m waiting on the dealer to make time for a tech to go over it with me. The main issue is that the Wi-Fi won’t connect to my phone, and gets stuck in an endless loop of trying to make that connection. It’s unusable.

While I can’t control it, or make changes, I assume that the camera is at least recording because a nice British lady tells me so every time I start and stop my car. One of my peeves though is that the recording of her prompting that audio is being recorded sounds like she’s in a bathroom and wasn’t record with the same quality as the rest of the verbal prompts. Super weird to hear, and really makes the camera feel cheap.

I guess I could pull the SD card and see what the recordings look like on my computer, but that’s more 20th century than my expectations for a $2000 system.

If I could go back in time, I probably wouldn’t have bothered with this waste of money. I love my Porsche, but IT is not the company’s strong suit and it consistently shows.
You have to ensure your phone is NOT connected to Apple CarPlay or another wifi source. If it is, it won't connect (or at least mine won't). Works fine otherwise. However, it really is a disappointment that the connections don't work better and more consistently. Maybe that's just a firmware/app update away... I can hope anyway

I agree, huge disappointment with the app. It's easier to pull the memory card out and plug it into a computer.

uhh $1500 just for installation even though you had selected "pre-wiring" option? That's a bit much no?

2.5hrs per camera. Shop rates in CA are a bit much.

Perhaps take it to a renown, car stereo shop working in high end cars? Ridiculous dealer pricing the more I think of it…

do you have it hardwired to the battery?
I have a Blackvue DR970X on my 992 - stupidly easy to fit - its connected to a Blackvue B-130X battery which sits under the passenger side seat (left side for me). This is hardwired to the closes fuse box, with Cam power routed up the left A pillar. Connection to the rear com is round the driver side roof line (right side)

If you buy the pre-wire option then you can install yourself. It's straight forward and easy but just take your time. If you are not mechanically inclined, a dealer or friend can help. The camera comes with everything you need except a small rat tail file which will be needed to modify the front mirror cover where the camera wire will protrude. Instructions can be found here on Rennlist or, I can send you a copy. I previously posted the latest version on this site.

You DO NOT need PIWIS or to get the dealership involved so save your money.

hey, thanks for this info, if you could share or link here the instructions that you are referring to, that would be much appreciated. I’m not afraid of doing the work myself. I was under impression that if I buy the OEM cam from Suncoast, it still needs to be coded to the car by the dealership.
