Three Wheelin'
246km/h (153mph) quite regularly on the back straight of my local track . The car is still pulling strong when I have to hit the brakes.

This reminds me of where I first learned to drive. My Dad was an Air Force base commander at a base with an 8,000ft main runway; we used to collect mushrooms on the weekend out on the airfield when it was 100% inactive. My brother and I learned to drive out there, I was 11 at the start. And that runway was freshly resurfaced, I recall the plant they set up nearby to supply the bitumen. If only I’d known more!
Oh - while remembering things; my Alfa has a top speed of 120mph. It does that at the redline of 5,700rpm in 5th. Not 1 mph more, not 1 mph less. Of that I can vouch; those Alfa engineers knew how to gear a car.

Even though I grew up near a Naval airport, North Island Naval Air Station (scenes from the latest Top Gun movie were filmed there…although the Top Gun School is actually in Miramar NAS), never had the opportunity to use…although in high school, really enjoyed walking down along the water and watching jets land at night, just feet above me.

Oh, have decided to take delivery of the P2. With gas prices heading north again soon I reckon EV’s will become harder to get. It’s scheduled for delivery next Thursday.

The naval air museum at Pensacola is well worth a visit, allow 2 days to do it justice. Even as an old Air Force brat who grew up in and around military aviation it blew me away with the quality of the exhibits.

Enjoy…we do..immensely.
Word of caution (I’m sure you’ve been reading all the P2 posts about issues?): if you have a 2nd car, I would use that car on longer trips, until all these issues (not just Polestar, but most EV manufactures, including Porsche, are having issues that need to be sorted out). Whether it’s the car’s 12v or TCAM battery failing, bad batch of hardware switches…the source still needs to be determined. We now have close to 2K miles on the P2, but still restricting use to tips under 150-200 miles….as a precaution. The frequency of these problems is still very low, but disconcerting, nonetheless. Knock on wood, we have not had any serious problems to date.

Got her up to near 160mph at COTA. Don’t think 160 was officially achieved, but within 2-3mph.

I was chasing this guy at Le Mans in the summer and saw 172 mph on the speedo in my pov. spec C2. It still had loads left but a corner was coming up!
The interesting thing is that in the straights he was a bit quicker, but there was not a huge amount in it.

Exactly why my buddy, who tracks almost every week while the weather cooperates, prefers driving his “under-powered” Cayman on the track, than his GT3. He said there’s no better feeling when keeping up with, or even passing, a car that you know has 100-200HP more than you. Driving skills are a great equalizer on the track.

Although that curve from 101 to 202 is rather fun...heh heh.

Agreed...minivans and Mom Soccer Suburbans rolling 95 like it is all in a day's work. Landscaping trucks slinging rocks as if their lives depended on it. Giddy up!

No idea what you're talking about. There may or may not be some wheel marks left there once or twice by myself.
