When I saw the guns, yes I was scared…and when he told me to lie face down on the road, I knew they were serious.
This happened in suburbia…actually, more rural than suburban…..I think the only calls these police get are for a neighbor with loud music, barking dog and an occasional car break in….and speeding (they had a LOT of speed traps)

Agree with both of you, driving with the top down at high speeds still feels comfortable at high speeds. If i wasnt worried about my hair I might have tried 160+ with the top down but maybe I'll find a helmet for next time

Trap speed for 992S to 1/4 mile is ~125mph…so you can conveniently test out your car at any local drag strip
PS - Years ago, in my stupid youth, I made the stupid mistake of trying to outrun our local police. That did not end well for me, and was damn lucking i didn’t end up in jail. I learned that lesson.

I buzzed past a parked cop in the median between trees middle of nowhere at 120+, but since I saw him slowed down so he could catch up (he had to start the car and then catch up to me a half mile away lol)... got hit with an 85 in a 75.....probably a good idea not to run if they light you up

ps there are probably noise sensors around highways/streets so if you go too loud that might attract attention faster than quietly going fast...not a suggestion to do anything...im pretty sure I triggered one yesterday after hitting the button and sitting near 7k for 20s or whatever it is....im sure GT3 stock will trip my areas sensors

120ish with the top down. Not really much room to do much else around here.

150 tops for me. My mind wonders at all the things that could go wrong at those speeds, and not to mention the guys who pave roads are not thinking “Hey there’s gonna Porsches smashing 150+ thru here, we better make the surface smooth as possible”
You can easily encounter a dip or small hump and at those speeds it’s not a small effect on the car. I guess that’s the fun in life, taking calculated risks🤷🏼♂️

Many/most airports (not major airports) have access roads that run along the airport runway. These roads are not well maintained, but rarely used. I started using this access road near airport when I was testing out my Draggy to determine 0-60, 1/8 and 1/4 mile times.
Oh - while remembering things; my Alfa has a top speed of 120mph. It does that at the redline of 5,700rpm in 5th. Not 1 mph more, not 1 mph less. Of that I can vouch; those Alfa engineers knew how to gear a car.

This reminds me of where I first learned to drive. My Dad was an Air Force base commander at a base with an 8,000ft main runway; we used to collect mushrooms on the weekend out on the airfield when it was 100% inactive. My brother and I learned to drive out there, I was 11 at the start. And that runway was freshly resurfaced, I recall the plant they set up nearby to supply the bitumen. If only I’d known more!
