Hi, just bought a used 2021 Gentian Blue Carrera. It looks gorgeous but I always wanted a chalk 992. I’ve heard that the KPMF gloss chalk white is the exact replica of the Porsche chalk color and I’m tempted to try it out. To anyone that have experience getting a color change vinyl wrap: Did you like it? Does a wrap job look close to paint?

Off-subject but I think the A7 is one of the best looking cars on the road. How do you like it?
Save your money...and look for a chalk 992
no wrap will ever look like the real thing
I wish.. Have been looking for a 992 for 5 month, originally wanted to build my own. I live in Atlanta and my 2 local dealership told me a Carrera allocation would be at least 2 years wait and if I want it this year I will have to pay 10k adm.

The new generation A7 is such a beautiful car! I think the rear and front light animation is what makes it look futuristic. The ride is like any Audi, it’s smooth and it’s a good daily. The rear hatch is more than enough for me(long road trip to the beach and mountains in the winter for snowboarding).

Wraps never look as good as paint. If you’re going through the expense of it, you might as well go with some interesting livery, because race liveries tend to hide imperfections of the wrap.
My old 2011 STI was wrapped in the Subaru factory team 24h Nurburgring livery. Oh, before anyone goes there, the car could certainly cash the checks the livery was writing — full engine build, forged internals, cams, machined heads, big turbo, FMIC, fully after market suspension (including arms, bars, nothing Subaru), lots of carbon, no emission controls and a lightening regiment that put the ready to drive weight at around 2900lbs. With all of this investment, it was considerably quicker than the race car that wore the same livery. It was a Subaru with Porsche money dumped into it, because I am the right kind of idiot that wanted a race car with a license plate. 😂
If you do it, you will really need an absolute top notch shop that is going to disassemble everything and tuck every edge properly. Any bit of the GB not covered correctly will likely be glaringly obvious against the chalk wrap. That probably makes it quite a costly project, but the right shop could do it.
I have a vinyl wrapped BMW 135i which looks great. I would do it again and I would wrap my 992 if I wanted a color change.
The benefit is u can go back to stock very easily.
Since u r in Atlanta give Miguel at 5am Vinyl a call. They are in Suwanee - he does fantastic work.

Thank you for that info! Do they handle lots of pcars when you were there? I would assume they have experience with 992s since there are so many in Atlanta area.

Hey Drew thanks for the reply. That is my main concern as well. Good thing is if they didn’t do a good job I can alway have them unwrap it.
New wraps like KPMF and Inozetek look amazing. Many of the Porsche standard and PTS colors are available. Just need to find a great installer that will take their time. I would do it. Easily changed back to GB in the future if you decide to.
