That strip looks terrible as it doesn't integrate properly onto the wheel-looks like it was stuck on and not pressed down.

Wow that looks bad with the big fat piece of red tape.

FWIW I tried this mod using the red pinstripe. It works, but in hot AZ where I live, during the summers the tape residue starts to melt a bit and I got tired of feeling the sticky residue at 12:00 so I removed it and I painted the stripe using red . I removed the steering wheel to do it. It's impossible to paint it with steering wheel installed. Came out pretty good. I still have to hit it with a satin clear coat to take off the gloss so it matches the satin finish of the steering wheel leather. I don't have a red tach but I do have guards red seat belts and the exterior is guards red too so it works pretty well IMO.

A contrarian view. When did someone decide a twelve o'clock position marker was desirable or needed? Sometimes less is more.
