Add PSE with base quad exhaust possible?
I have a base 991 with quad exhaust and programmed from the dealer to open the flaps.
if I purchase a PSE exhaust, do I need to replace the rear valance to the oval tips or can I install the PSE and keep the quad tips?
I looked that sport exhaust instructions from Porsche and it shows it removing the rear valance and changing it out.
i rather keep the dual tip look. has anyone done it?

There is a thread from 2020 where someone did the swap (with pics). I think the holes on the PSE (Physical exhaust) do not line up with the holes on the non PSE bumper exhaust output. IIRC both type exhausts have 2 outlet holes on both exhaust and faux bumper, but they kind of line up with each other. Since there is a small gap between not sure how much issue that would cause, but the outlet holes would not align unless with the PSE.
PS. My 2020 C4S had full PSE, and my 2022 Targa 4S - I opted to go with the quad pipes (non-pse) but had the dealer activate the PSE mode (I am guessing you did as well). Having had both - you get 80% of the sound with the non-PSE exhaust but the valves enabled through the software. You would be spending a lot - for a little IMO. If I were going to go put in a PSE - for the cost - go aftermarket and get more sound, as you would be spending 3K+ for very little improvement.

With the regular exhaust there one big pipe + one smaller size exhaust pipe.
The PSE is on the right side and the non PSE is on the left side. This PSE in particular is of a Euro model 992 with OPF but that doesn't really matter.

You don't need to replace the rear valence, you can keep the quad tips. The PSE has one oval pipe + one smaller size exhaust pipe.

It is virtually the same. The gap between the exhaust pipes and the tips is so large that it really doesn’t matter that much.

I have PSE and IMO the sound difference is negligible. See all the people changing out their PSEs for louder exhausts. If you're going to spend the money to get a PSE muffler, you may as well get an aftermarket muffler for the same price or cheaper.

As a side note, you can actually open the flaps on the PSE more as well. I activated this with my M-Engineering tune and it made a big difference.

Yes. I've done exactly this. It now sounds noticeably louder and better. But for those who don't want to tune their cars with non-PSE and want a louder exhaust, I'd get an aftermarket exhaust, rather than Porsche's PSE muffer, to replace the stock base exhaust.

Stay away from Fabspeed. They sent me the wrong sports exhaust. It wouldn’t fit. The owner asked me if i wouldn’t mind taking it to my local muffler shop to get about an inch cut of the ends of the pipes so it would fit into place and send him the bill. I sent it back and had them do it. I bought sport cats from them, a Numeric shifter and shift cables too. Anyway, it’s sets off the CEL about once a month. It lasts about 2 days and goes off. They advertise no CEL on the set up. Don’t believe it.

I think the PSE is overrated. If you like the look, go for it. I've got it because I couldn't get a 2S allocation and got the GTS. It's a bit louder, a bit more snap, crackle, and pop (if you understand that, you're of a certain age group), but not "Gee gotta have it!" The rear valence is different sport vs standard. If you're really set on a different sound, go for aftermarket, get the rear valence you need for those pipes, enjoy.

I have a base 992 with quads as well and would like some more sound which can hopefully be done without hardware changes. Is there a difference between 'enabling PSE' from dealer vs M-engineering full open? I already have the M-engineering device.

Will most dealers turn on the PSE in cars that came without it?

Yes there is a HUGE difference with M-eng valves full open when using with an already-equipped PSE exhaust (volume I would say is 9.5/10). PSE enabled from dealer for a non-PSE car is not the same thing and will still be a relatively quieter exhaust, and opening valves on non-PSE with M-eng I'm not sure how much louder that would get either.
