Default New 992 Guy Here - Exhaust

Hey guys. I have a 2020 992 with standard exhaust. I bought the Sharkwerks exhaust and simply could not deal with that drone. Sharkwerks took it back for a reasonable restocking fee. I just got the Soul Performance Valved Exhaust and wondered if you guys had any opinions? Would love to hear some feedback. Thanks in advance, and happy to be part of the board! Brendan in Vegas

He looks for opinions on Soul, which he just purchased replacing the Sharkwerks.

https://www.sharkwerks.com/exhaust/p...arrera-s-turbo

in the description it says “does not drone when cruising at freeway speeds”… they should have taken the exhaust back with no fee for false advertising.

I was going to get this exhaust when my C2 arrives.. if ever.. delayed til Nov 18 as of now. ☹️ I don’t want drone so I think I’ll go with QuickSilver.

The Sharkwerks was around $2100 and the install was $600. Just didn't care for the loud droning at cruising speeds.

Well, I have the non-valved Soul Exhaust (with Soul Sport Cats). I love it! It does have some drone, but I suppose that I'm getting used to it.

I'm sure the valved version would be perfect for you.

Hey, thanks for the reply. Yeah I just bought the valved exhaust. But you are pretty happy with yours aye? I tell you, the Sharkwerks drone was unbearable in my opinion. I don't mind loud. And it sounded great when you step on it. But when I drove 20 miles on the freeway I had a headache from the low frequency drone. I did not like it. The boys at Sharkwerks were great, but in the end it wasn't for me.

Originally I was thinking I'd just go with high-flow sport cats to salvage the exhaust sound on my GTS, but based on this thread it seems like the meh stock sound might be the result of the US spec muffler more than anything else, so now I'm looking at full exhaust options. Anyone around with a Kline valved system installed? The video sounds really incredible, but it's also one of the highest production value exhaust videos I've seen so it's a pretty unfair comparison. Wondering how much difference the Inconel (lighter weight metal) makes vs stainless -- probably not worth the price difference, but I'm curious nonetheless.

From memory, for valved options I've seen Akrapovic (which may be too loud for me if posts on here are any indication), Soul, iPE, Kline, Capristo... To my ears in their video the iPE (www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSyph6DhMvM) sounds very similar to stock, but louder. The Capristo (www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ydtWg2nN70) and especially Kline (www.youtube.com/watch?v=TgwM1Sfse8M; 100 cell cats in this video, to be fair) seem to have more of an exotic tone to them. Soul (www.youtube.com/watch?v=aX4Y4IkSJfc) sounds somewhere in between. Any others I should be checking out before I make a decision?

Problem is that video's don't reflect reality as much as we all like it. So, until you hear them all side by side in real life use, which is almost impossible, it will always be a guess which sound you like the most and there is not one fits all solution (and then there is what you are willing to pay). I looked and searched quite a bit and came across wheels boutique's post comparing Akra, IPE and some others I forgot. What I remembered them saying is they like IPE sound the most and liked Akra's quality the best. If you do consider all the above, include Armytrix, Fabspeed, and RedStar (turbo only)? All reputable shops. Then there was another high end European manufacturer (forgot the name but you can search the forum). I have an IPE coming and will soon know how much it changes the PSE exhaust tone.
