Pardon the blurry pictures:
This is great to know. How did you connect the eBay connector to your Uniden? Did you cut the end off the 12v cord that came with the detector and splice it to the eBay connector? Any pictures?

Get a hardwire cable for the uniden connect the red wire to the switched power from the harness, and the black wire to the ground from the harness.

@txpackers: I did exactly what @malba2366 describes, using
this mirror tap kit this mirror tap kit
and a couple of Wago lever nuts. Unfortunately didn't take pictures of the modified harness before installing. I left the other pigtails alone, though you could cut them off to save space.

Just installed the front for my 2024 Turbo S (got it from dealer Friday). The Yellow (orange to me) connector is to the left under the headliner. Very hard to see. For me it was easier to remove the R visor clip to allow the headliner to flex more. My son in law held the headliner part while I pushed the dashcam connector in. They could have made this a lot easier and put a hot plug in the forward cover!

The connector is in the dark area up there!

Peeking out!

This is very helpful. Thank you both for sharing.

I have the pre-wiring and still haven’t decided how I want to use it. The real world reviews of the Porsche dash cam aren’t the best which is disappointing. I’m considering the Escort MAXcam 360c for an all in one solution or the Uniden R7 with a Blackvue. I added the dash cam wiring on my build since it was cheap and would make it easier to connect things like this.

I still hold out hope that the Porsche branded dash cam gets better.

What I've most recently read is that there is a new firmware update for the dashcam itself that greatly improves connectivity and usability. One user reported it was "close to perfect now". I'm still a month from collecting my car, but fully intend to install the Porsche-branded cam.

That would be good if it’s improved. The latest review posted on Suncoast wasn’t positive.

Default Dashcam install in a YR23 992 911 GTS

Someone help me understand...Why are the dealers (North Carolina/Raleigh/Durham) asking $800 -1200 plus to install/mount the dash cam when the car is already prewired.? note: i provide the camera from SUNCOAST Porsche. what is so special or difficult/time consuming about this install??

Porsche probably has not updated the shop manual to update the different labor hours for cars with the prewire. Dealer just looks it up and multiplies their labor rate.

It’s so frustrating… why don’t they just install at factory? Maybe I should call Porsche NA, but then again, to what end?

Great question, the SA is probably padding the time...perhaps they haven't installed one before? Seems like I read somewhere in one of the threads how many units of the billing time they should charge according to Porsche, thought it worked out to about two hours. Other posters have reported being quoted $500-$600 labor which should be about two hours of labor time depending on their rate.

I installed the Porsche camera kit myself and it took me less than one hour in my garage for the front and rear cameras from Suncoast. The hardest part was finding the yellow connector under the front headliner. I also installed a wiretap for my Uniden R8 at the same time. Bring me your car and 12 cans of decent beer.

@Vivienne @X040660 , there is an updated Technical Service Bulletin from Porsche (see attached PDF) that the dealers either don't know about, or are ignoring in order to charge you more. It specifically says 1.9 hours for a Coupe (front + rear) so having this with you or sending it to their service department should help.
