Default Build Slot for September Production

My SA just called me - I have a build slot for a 2023 cabriolet - September build.

Trading my 2022 coupe.

Congratulations! Are you trading a base coupe for base cab? I am at a similar boat as I switched from 992 coupe allocation to a 992 cab allocation! I wanted to ask what made you want to change to cab? Mine is August production October delivery and still 2022 MY. Have you decided on your color combo?

My first pass on the configurator is Gentian Blue with Blue top and black interior.

Yes base to base.

I luv the coupe but I've had cabriolets, roadsters and convertibles going way back to a Sunbeam Alpine and there is nothing quite like an open top vehicle.

I live in Georgia 75% of the time and the weather here is very conducive to top down driving - don't really get a "winter".

Plus my 2022 trade in didn't really lose any value since I'm getting the original MSRP for the trade.

So I am new to this forum and soon to be a new 911 convertible owner. My car is scheduled to be delivered in October 2022. After reading and reading, I am questioning if I should have waited for an S model allocation? I put a lot of options on my build that I wanted and the price got up there. Also, I just noticed that Porsche increased the price of a 911 by $4K but I assume my price is locked in as I put down a significant amount already.

My guess is that if you are getting a 23, you cannot lock in the 22 MSRP on a 23. That is unless the dealer agrees to a discount off MSRP which is extremely rare in this market.

I just texted my salesman. I am locked in on my build price. I assume my car will be a 2022? Maybe that is why?

I have to guess is its a 2022. Most purchase "contracts" would be specific to a model year. I would be surprised if any dealer that has an idea of what they are doing will fix a price for you on something that they don't know what it will cost them to acquire. I guess that could be the case. Of course, the other not impossible scenario is that your salesman is talking out of their @ss. That has been know to occur occasionally due to either lack of knowledge or lack of integrity.

That is the reason-22s were not affected by the 23 price increase.

So did everyone load up their build with options? I have read that you should be selective on a base model so as to not price the car into the S range.

Build it the way you want it. If that means loading it up with options, then do that. And DRIVE it!

Change to an S you have already put some options that would have come standard with an S. Having put a substantial deposit be persistent and they would give you an S allocation it WORTH IT !!

By now you should have access to Track Your Dream - this will specify the model year and MSRP of the car being built to your configuration.

it will specify manufacture date and delivery date and configuration change lock date.

if you don’t have access you should contact your SA as soon as possible.

My manufacture date is 9/23 and I have a 2023 car. Delivery is 10/28 and lock is 68 days from today !!!!

My log in says 2022 911. Build date Aug with delivery Oct 7! Excited. I asked about getting a S allocation but my dealership did not have any and said I would need to wait. With my options the S was going to be significantly more. I think the base will be plenty of horsepower.
