Default What is this part that fell out of my steering column?

2020 C2S, 12K miles - Unlocked it after a grocery run this morning, sat down/started ignition and the electric steering column began to return to the driving position from the entry/exit position - heard several sounds like parts falling off, and then this hit my leg. I'm presuming it's from the steering column. Appears to be similar to a Delrin spacer ring of some sort - with some grease/wear on the interior - it does not appear to be completely round, but that may have been the result of compression (?).

No noticeable change in steering, stalk usage or electric column movement .

I will call the dealer Monday (1.5 years left on warranty, whew). I guess I would have to worry about long-term issues if there is something rubbing now.

Sorry this happened to you. Let us know what the dealer discovers. I also have a C2S MY20 and will keep an eye out for this.

Well, one benefit for the folks picking up their new MY22 992s without electric steering column is they may not have to worry about this failure scenario... (sorry, couldn't resist)

That’s very unsettling. Not sure I would drive the car other than to the dealer.

That's the chip. This is Porsche's way to reverse retrofit because of the shortage. Equality for all!

Looks like a significant portion of one of the bushings that support one of the tilt/telescopic steering column axis. I do believe a rapid visit to the dealer is in order.

Looks like a human finger. Probably a factory accident

Following up on this - the part that fell out of my steering column was a bump stop for the worm drive in the electric column. The dealer replaced the entire column and much to my satisfaction replaced did *not* downgrade me to manual column - so electric replacement columns do exist.
