Am I missing something (again), but why do people block out the plate numbers when posting pictures? It is a number that is broadcast to the public all of the time.

 

In my case - paranoia.

Can you google a lic place and find out who it belongs to?

 

I don't believe so. But even if you can, how many thousands of people have access to your plate in the regular world? Shouldn't I be more worried about someone "local" mining that information to use in some nefarious way.

 

Accepting cookies on your phone is more nefarious than the license plate, just my .02 cents
