Default 992 C2 Start/Stop Programming

New owner here - need help programming the start/stop always "off" - is it doable in the individual setting? Cannot locate info on how - played in the PCM - still unsure. Thanks.

It is in the PCM vehicle settings.

Thanks - I am able to turn it off but it defaults to 'on' at next start. Further advice?

There is a thread going on in the Turbo S forum re this issue.

I am also struggling as it appears some people are able to modifying each drive mode and disable this but others (like myself) are not so it comes back on every drive. Perhaps model specific, build date or county of origin makes this different? Or perhaps I just cant figure it out?

Can’t be permanently disabled through the PCM. It is always on with restart in normal drive mode.

I programmed a diamond switch to easily turn it off when I start the car. It is also disabled in sport mode, sport plus, and if you program it that way in individual mode. But any of these require an driver action at starting the car too.

I have done the same, but it seems a few of the 992 Turbo people are saying they can modify normal mode in order to keep it permanently off.

Thanks - that's what I thought. Too bad. My Ford Explorer makes it easy - there is a button on the console with one touch it's off for the ride. Yes you do it with each start but no deep- dive into any menu.

Mine stays off if I modify it in normal mode…..or any mode for that matter. I choose to leave mine enabled. Your gas savings begin after about 25-30 seconds of being shut off. If I arrive at an intersection and I will be idling less than 25-30 seconds, I leave my clutch engaged so the car won’t shut off. If I know I’ll be sitting longer than the above stated time, I allow the car to shut off. If the A/C is running auto start/stop is automatically disabled.

I programed the diamond on the steering wheel. But since I never drive in Normal mode, I changed that to my garage door opener. Normal mode makes for a less than satisfying experience.

M-Engineering can permanently disable it with their tune software. That, and the cold start, as well. Those 2 things USED TO drive me bonkers every time I started the car.

I hate the start/stop feature. It’s annoying and dangerous. With rental cars, I don’t give a s&*t about the car and sometimes leave it on. I’ll be at an intersection ready to merge and that engine start up takes enough time that I can’t make a clean merge if another car is coming. You might think I’m too aggressive but I rent cars in European countries where you have to drive aggressively to get around. Also, I don’t think it’s good for turbos to be shutting on and off all the time, especially high performance turbos

+1

I got their tune for those two things and to get rid of the stupid crackles and pops of the exhaust. Works very well.

It's more like 6-10 seconds, actually. Sort of surprising. Engineering Explained video:

There’s nothing dangerous about A/S/S and it is not detrimental to turbos. Don’t be silly! The only wear item is the starter, and cars equipped with A/S/S either have an additional starter or one starter that has been beefed up.

Good video! I will adjust accordingly. I’m able to extract about 440 miles per tank out of my 992 with the regular gas tank, which is more or less what I was able to get out of my prior M4’s (…and why I didn’t opt for the larger tank in my 992). That figure is based on normal/reasonable driving behavior. Spirited driving does, indeed, drain the gas tank accordingly.
