Default Left a deposit with a dealer for a 992 Dakar/Safari

Been a reader for a while first time posting. Dealer that I purchased my Audi RS6 from also has a Porsche store. I expressed interest in a Dakar and they told me no one has asked about that car yet since it has yet to be announced but was willing to start the list with me with a “FULLY” refundable deposit and will be charging a $15k ADM. I told them thats fine I gave them the DP got the confirmation and now I wait. Any idea on when they are going to unveil it?

A $15k ADM is fine? Non-refundable deposit? Did it occur to you to maybe shop around?

I’m actively looking for a better deal. Every dealer I talked to says they have a long list or have no idea what a Dakar/safari is. It was the first dealer that actually said yes and put me number one and willing to take a deposit. But it’s fully refundable so if I find a better deal I can just get my money back.

Non refundable deposit, let alone for a model that hasn’t been confirmed, is total nonsense.

There is no MSRP or announced model year, so the suggestion of ADM is pretty rich.

If you are giving out interest free loans, please sign me up.

I would also like to take a fully refundable deposit from you for the next 2+ years, interest free.

Please PM me immediately.

Thank you.

Has a safari edition of any 911 generation of the past 10-15 years actually been sold?

@alex911dakar you should've waited until tomorrow for this...4/20
In all seriousness, there's zero chance of you ever seeing that car being made

Hate to say it, but that dealer is probably laughing at you behind your back.

Ask the dealer for your deposit back. It’s BS for them to take a deposit for an imaginary car.

When Porsche makes Special Editions, the majority of them never make it do the USA because of the stringent DOT certification requirements. Its not worth it on low volume production when you can sell them all in Europe. Try to find one of these in the USA. for example. And you cannot buy the "Bubble" roof panel, the Ducktail or any body parts unique to this car without supplying Porsche with a VIN showing you are the owner and how yours is damaged.

You may want to get your deposit back or apply it to a car you can actually get. Right now you are literally chasing a Unicorn.
