G’afternoon!
As I’m getting closer to the date where I should finally have a 992 allotment; I find my eye wandering…
What are your thoughts on the AMG GT roadster vs a 991 base convertible?

The AMG GT Roadster is much more of a GT car. It will not handle anything like 911. If that's OK with you, wander on.
Hell, we have ppl flipping their 911s for Taycans for gods sake.
What's next, "should I trade my 911 for a hummer"? Sure, why the F not.

Driving dynamics and handling of a 911 are unmatched. Once you've driven a 911, you cannot feel good in the AMG alternative.

I have driven many AMG GT - R with RWS. Most at COTA in Austin. One one the best tracks I know. Anyway, they are amazing cars I assure you. I have not been able to drive my 992 in this type of environment so I cannot compare but if some are saying the 992 is way better than the GT then I'm beyond excited to have the 992 as I loved the GT-R! Only 2 seat though and I need all 4

It will not disappoint in terms of performance.
The Porsche 911 is timeless and if you plan on keeping the car for an extended period I say get the Porsche, if you will be keeping the car for only a short time the AMG is a good choice.
I briefly considered the AMG but opted for the Porsche.

I view AMG GT as a brute force GT car and that extra long hood will be somewhat challenging to maneuver in tight spaces. Obviously, quite different from the 911. But, it all comes down to your priority and preferences!

I feel the 911 is the better looking car, so easy choice for me.

I feel like the AMG GT is like a Mustang GT500; whereas the 911 is more like the Corvette Z06.
Both good cars, just different in their own right.
Not a better or worse, just different.

There's a reason every car guy has a 911 variant in their garage. Chris Harris, Matt Farah, etc - they might have other stuff, too - but a 911 is core. I don't know any that give a dam about AMG offerings. Maybe older ones, if they're into classics - the Hammer, 500E, etc.

Both. They are very different experiences. AMG GTs are a considerably rarer sight on the street if that matters to you.

Not a Benz guy either despite living 2 minutes away from a dealer. Don’t care for Benz infotainment system, touchpad mouse, weight of cars, etc.
Since I’m not a top client at Porsche dealer, GT3, GT4 RS, and especially GT3 RS are out of the question. Have been slapped on wrist for trying to get on GT4 RS waiting list. So basically 911 Turbo S or M4 CSL seem to be my best choices. Looking for power, handling, and fun. I’m worried about AWD in 911 Turbo S.
