992 SAFARI

This seems like a good winter daily driver until I saw the high MSRP using a GTS engine. Why is this so costly? I was hoping for a full lineup along with the standrad 911 for a better daily driver that works well in the winter.

If I were a sheik in the middle east I would get this Dakar 911. I think that's the target individual for this.
However, for $120K less or so, this is now in production w/ my name on it. I'd also get this if I were a sheik. Hopefully will get it by the first of the year:

Can you get skis on it?

Stunning! On white, you can add decals later.
I am plotting Martini Racing on Carrera T, but you might want to do Rothmans later.
Petrol, alcohol and tobacco rules!
All we need is firearms, and we have all the guilty pleasures!

I truly hope this becomes a mainstay Porsche. I’d love to drive with my wife from Florida to Alaska and back hitting every notable National Park along the circuitous route for a couple months in a Bahama Yellow Safari. What a perfect vehicle for it. Not sure the price of admission is warranted but like it’s been said maybe the options will filter down to the 4S. I don’t need the lightweight glass and other lightweight stuff but a dependable fun off-road capable 911 would be perfect with the roof rack, rooftop tent etc. can’t wait to hear about the first buyer’s adventures!

I sold my 991.2 T and am on the list for a 992 T, but am considering upgrading to a Carrera S. I know there are some threads on the T vs S, but wanted to ask here if any owners of either had driven both (991.2 T and 991.2 S or 992 S) and what your observations are. I think there is a lot of talk of the smaller turbos spooling up faster but I have not seen any technical data to support this.
I have not driven 991.1 T vs 991.2 S… but I am in the same position as you, and having the same questions on my mind, I have driven 992 base vs 992 S.
The difference is considerable, however, my view is that 992 T with M/T and shorter final drive will be a great car to drive, as an interim measure until my 992.2 C2S PDK arrive.
I have been waiting for C2S since Nov-2021 and I am told that release of 992.2 is imminent, so my 992 C2S order will be automatically moved to the 992.2 C2S model. Also, production of C2 and C2S is at absolute minimum, to allow for all the latest releases.
So I have ordered 992 T, which seems to be more available, while I wait for C2S. Furthermore, I suspect that 992 base motor is being discontinued and the inventory has to be flushed out of the system to make space for 992.2.
With the crazy market we have right now, driving the 992 T for few months until 992.2 arrives seem to me as low risk proposition.

I suppose it was extra investment not worth the limited production.
