It's been my experience that MPG goes up when you get a tune. Most factory tunes are on the rich side of the spectrum.

so the "map" is not pre loaded? they have to build it according to your input/the (mods) on the car?

That's what threw me off. It doesn't sound like a typical canned tune that everyone runs. For 2500 bucks, this is a killer deal for 100whp+

Ditto… this seems unbeatable for 2500

Well .. not exactly ... you get a map based on your ROM (from what I understand). My ROM is new to M-Engineering so they have to build it - subsequent customers would get a similar map. You get the hardware in the mail and you need to download their software. Then you create a "info" file based on your ECU and email that back. They will use that info file to create a map. It is supposed to take ~24 hours or quicker. Since mine was unknown ... it takes longer ...

With those kind of power gains, one has to wonder about engine/transmission reliability. Good luck to those who go for it!

Those that go for it aren't worried!

Again, if Porsche is going to hybrid the 992.2 I'd imagine there is already a reasonably safe margin built into the engine / transmission design in the 992.1.

Yes typically it is a very quick turnaround. If we encounter new roms we have to add them and test them to be sure. So this one was one we had not since. I apologize for the short delay but we are about there!

Thanks!

Two separate issues. The engine, at 150hp per liter is already highly efficient. Adding another 20% of operational stress without any hardware modification is not insignificant. Electric motor supplementation should not change that equation.

Transmission risk comes from increased torque. Less of an issue for the automatic, which is already rated for higher stress as you pointed out with the arrival of electric supplementation. The manual transmission however, I doubt is designed to incorporate that additional hybrid power.

Porsche technical literature shows the torque capacity of the 8 speed PDK in the 992 as >800 newton meters, which equals >590 foot pounds.
M-Engineering's original dyno info showed a max Stage 1 tuned torque at 464 foot pounds.
Doesn't appear to be a problem.

Not sure about this at only $800. Less increase, but again for a manual, possibly a better match. I don't know anything about VRtuned though.

Why would a manual be "weaker"?
