Default 2022 Deliveries

Any info? Has EPA been cleared for 992 models? Models start delivering? Thanks.

My ordered car has still no allocation, my dealer (Slovakia) said it could be anytime between February-May 2022, but the situation is similar also in countries around (Czechia, Austria).

I’m wondering about 2022 orders already shipped to their destination county. A batch has already entered Canada but wondering if US EPA has been cleared yet.

Maybe just as important, who will be the first to confirm NO particulate filter in the US 2022 models!

Mine will be there in a few days after leaving Jacksonville yesterday (Felicity Ace).

I've been monitoring this thread to see if anyone in USA gets a '22 delivered. I checked the EPA link yesterday and only saw the GT3 and Touring as the '22 Porsche models certified. Getting slightly concerned about delays.

Same here - but I don't know how frequent they post updates. I've checked at least several times over a month window and it still has (from memory so could be wrong) 17,772 total lines. Which means there have been no new additions to the list for any manufacture for 2022 since I first ran the list. I think we are in for a delay, just hoping it's not too long.

Hopefully it's much better than the 21 MY last year. The EPA didn't clear them until somewhere around early Dec....CARB took a tad bit longer. Early production cars were sitting at the VPC for months.

As a relative newbie, If the 22 cars have no changes to engine why do we think that the approvals might be delayed? Is this covid related or something else? My 22 starts production on 8/27.

Because it’s the law. Each new model year imported into the US needs to submit an application for an EPA compliance certificate. They can use the previous model year’s data in some cases, but even in such cases, the EPA still needs to review and approve the application. With the amount of new imported models coming into the US vs before, the process takes a bit longer now. COVID mandating reduce staffing at the EPA has led to additional delays in the issuance of certifications.

I hope it’s better this year. I was one of those whose car arrived to the port in San Diego in early-September and I didn’t get it until late-December (10 days of that was getting it shipped to Texas—I moved after placing my deposit just-pre-Covid).

Gotta love gov’t bureaucracy.

Where did this thought even start? I can understand on a diesel but on a gas engine -not. Any engineers on here know any reason for a particulate filter on a modern automotive gas engine?

I am not an engineer, but I can tell you living in Los Angeles and monitoring air quality before I go out to exercise, that fine particles are an important component of air quality, known as PM2.5 , particles which are 2.5 µm in diameter. These penetrate deeply causing lung disease, are absorbed, and also cause heart disease, and the associated societal health costs not to mention mortality.
This is well established and easy to corroborate if you go online for reputable sources.

Gas engines produce these particles also, but to a lesser degree than diesel I assume. These are the reasons for the particulate matter filter although there may be others.

The sports car enthusiast in me abhors particle filters because of added weight and altered exhaust sound.
My heart and cardiovascular system however, would much prefer to walk in a neighborhood where the vehicles have them for more healthful air.

Really looking for some input from those of you who have already pulled the trigger for a 992. I currently have a 981 BS and really like it but want to make the move to a more comfortable platform like my Cayenne Turbo and the 992 is the obvious choice. Problem is, there aren't any 992 on the dealer lots to drive. I've driven 991.1 but nothing newer. I would really appreciate any feed back from those that have made the move from the 981 platform to the 992. Thank you in advanced.
