Just curious mcacs1, if you don't mind sharing, what was your freeze date and on what date did you take delivery? I'm having a hard time deciding whether or not to go with SC or not due to this issue. Many thanks!

Yes - I have a 2022 manual (and also I have PDCC so dynamic mounts I think?) and had rattling sounds easily reproducable at low RPMs under load (ie. going up hill in say 1500 RPM in 2nd or 3rd gear) and it got fixed after engine mounts were replaced.

Can you provide the part number for the new motor mounts?

many guys have had them replaced but the problem remains.

we all are hoping they finally modify the mounts to correct the problem.

My invoice says 992 199 384 d mounts were replaced, but this could be only the old ones, not sure. My car was built in May-2023.

I am firmly aligned with this post. Replaced mounts in December, no change. Love the car. Also have a window whistle at 66 mph on drivers side.

I think there are many owners that hear it at low speeds, but switch to sport mode and hide the noise!

one day Porsche has to come up with a reengineered mount that fixes the problem.

it’s hard to believe they haven’t done it yet!

has anyone taken delivery of a 2024 992 with this complaint?

Looking back at this thread, I really don't think its the mount part itself - almost everyone get sports chrono in this car, few people report this, many of those have had replacement with late revision parts (I assume the same revision they are using t the assembly line) - and it still hasn't fix their cars. I think this is some assembly issue on the production line when the engine is mated to the car, it affects very specific cars and if you are unlucky enough to have one, they can't shake it loose with new parts. If every sport chrono car had this problem, this thread would be full of complaints with people who have taken new deliveries.

Porsche Canada has a service bulletin detailing a procedure to diagnose and replace the mounts which my dealer followed. The procedure describes how to capture the noise with microphones and other instrumentation including a vibration and noise analysis system and compare it to a signature file to confirm the source. The procedure states that the cause of the noise may be the exhaustion of the maximum damping travel of the motor bearings resulting in contact with the decoupler plate of the motor bearings. The procedure indicates that the mounts only need to be replaced in the case of unusually strong noises in comparison with other 911 992 vehicles with dynamic engine mounts. Bulletin number is 183/21 en_GB 103502. Sorry I can't share it as it is a scan of a copy with an employee name on it.

This is very interesting. It's the first I've read of this procedure for assessing the problem, and is actually quite logical.
New buyers need to ask themselves whether they are willing to accept certain amount of engine mount noise and if the answer is none,
then to choose a base Carrera without sport chrono IMO.

Absolutely. I would not have taken the SC option if I had known about this. Always good to read forums before buying!
