No one is saying the 992 turbo drives exactly like an naturally aspirated 9k rpm screamer, but what the owners of the 992 turbo are saying, is that the turbo chassis behaves and drive quite like the gt variants, sharp steering and agility ( even for such a big car I was surprised )
let’s face it the gts is not going to be exactly a gt3 ( same as a turbo ) and gts spec up is creeping into base turbo territory, might as well go for the turbo at this point, way better value IMO, cause the gts is not a sweet deal like it once was.
whatever - I’m not going to continue this debate, no matter what “ ice cream flavour “ you guys pick, it’s still a 911 and will be a fantastic car.

Never expected some of the aggressive responses and debating that a GTS vs GT3 has brought forth. Amazing and to the guys who feel that no one would ever cross shop a GTS with a GT3 Touring, why does this thread have over 5,600 views?

I think most people who really want a GT3 and actually buy a GT3, aren't interested in a GTS or a Turbo, while I think there are probably a fair number of GTS/Turbo buyers that contemplate doing a GT3 instead, but then most of them decide the practicality they need isn't there in the GT3. So I'll bet there is some cross shopping, but mostly from the GTS/Turbo side than vice versa. IMO, they're very different cars and it's unlikely that they'd be highly interchangeable for a given use case.

I've got deposits down on a GT3 and a GTS. The reality is that I won't be even considered for a GT3 unless I buy more cars... That being said the GTS will be a great stop-gap and will most likely be the better daily driver for 99% of the driving I'll be doing. That being said I'll definitely miss it every track day.

Agree. For me it never came down to comparing the two cars . The comparison hinged on whether I could live with a part time 911 Vs having a 911 every day . That choice depends on the person and how that choice fits into his life . Everyones life is different . I also post in a Macan forum and there are a lot of guys there who came from a 911 and needed more space and utility . Two of them ordered Gt3's . Two others have Spyders . Those cars are part time cars for them. I dont want to drive my wife's Macan every day so I could have a Gt3 . I need a 911 every day . I prefer driving a RWD 911 over AWD and I want a coupe (Vs Cab or Targa) . Even a base car or an S were considered . I just like certain things in my current GTS and put the deposit in even before the car was announced . As for Cabs , targas , and AWD cars like the 4S and Turbo I respect that others want them but not me.

This resonates with me. The last time I really wanted a Turbo was when I was a kid and Bad Boys came out. Over the past 10 years all my sports cars have been track focused or not great as daily drivers. Fortunately I can have more than one and the Turbo has been absolutely perfect as an everyday sports car. I wasn’t a fan of the 991 Turbo because it felt too soft. The 992 feels more raw. Nothing but praise for it. With that said, I can not wait for the GT3 RS.
I've found that the more fun a car is to drive, the more miserable it is to have as a daily driver. I tried pulling that trick off with a GT4 and that experiment failed. Then I switched gears to a 991.2 Turbo, but after awhile it started feeling like a really fast BMW and I got bored. I've learned that I need to have a manual transmission NA car in the garage as well.
Then I got a 993 for the weekend that I built up and an M5 Competition as a DD. Should have been perfect, but I missed driving a 911 to work.
I've been using my 992 C2S as my daily and keeping the 993 for the weekend and this has been working great. The combo of a hard core RWD/NA/Manual transmission car for the weekend and turbocharged car that's comfortable but still rapid and engaging works perfectly. I decided to switch the 992 C2S to a Turbo S after falling down a Rennlist rabbit hole, which is a ridiculous reason to buy a new car, but I'm a sucker I guess.
I was a huge fan of the 991.2 GTS. I think it was one of the best looking 911s they made. I think, coming into it fresh, I would definitely go for the GTS over the S, all things being equal. But is it "special" enough over a C2S to qualify as a weekend car? It's not NA which would be an issue for me. As a daily driver, though, it would be a great option.

however from 40, the C2S is pretty good. I’ve been dead even with a ZL1 camaro and NSX from there up till 120ish, for perspective. So again you can then tell how a gts would fare.
