I’ve always wondered about this. The odds of having two consecutive lemon cars for electrical faults seems improbable. Didn’t he have some sort of aftermarket install of some type?

It's his radar detector and other electrical gizmos he has in the car like it's a highway patrol cruiser. I ran into a hardwire issue which I never documented here but replicated his problems. This came from a radar detector. All sorts of electrical gremlins surfaced after doing the job. Once it was removed and all things fixed, voila! No more problems.

Porsche simply buckled due to his youtube/social media presence where he documents everything with a smile on his face. All the while keeping a good ol jolly Nick attitude... There are many just like his type out there, greasy and cunning.

This clown has milked his 15 minutes of fame already. Just another social media influencer without any credible auto journalism or motorsports chops.

What does his electrical issues with his 2 Porsches have to do with his opinion on the GTS?

I have not had a GTS but can see his argument. Is it correct, I don't know.

I will say that I would have heavily considered a 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 except for the following:

1. Properly optioned it was $98k-$105k and that was just too close to 911 $$s not to get a 911 even though the 4.0 is a NA motor, which is the real draw along with the nimble handling.

2. The 718 doesn't have the new Manual in the 992s.

3. I do have 2 kids and the 718 has no rear seat.

4. I bought a 997 2 years ago and it was too hard to consider a 718 after driving a 911 for a couple years.

BUT the biggest reason I couldn't justify a 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 over a 992 is that the 718 is STILL running 2013-2019 Porsche interior styling and has not had the 992/Taycan modernization refresh and I couldn't justify spending $100k on a Porsche that still sported the 8 year old Boeing cockpit rows of buttons (and empty slots) along with the outdated PCM.

This is not true . The X51 package on the 997 was a serious deal He even referenced the Macan GTS. Read here if you wish. https://www.macanforum.com/threads/t...ferent.115105/

That said the 991.2 GTS is not just a "medallion" (quoting him in a previous review of it ) 911 . It offers a bundled package which is exclusive to that 911 variant . The last generation GTS timed a 7 min 23 sec ring time and the S timed a 7 min 34 sec time with the SAME driver . That's a big difference
In fact it even beat the former generation Gt3 . The 991.2 GTS even beat the 992 Carrera S which timed 7 min 30 sec !!!! Thats 7 seconds on the OLDER GTS leading. (see attached).https://fastestlaps.com/tracks/nordschleife
It also is a street friendly daily drivable 911 . It wont be as fast (or boring) as a Turbo S or as pure as a Gt3 but it is versatile . That's what makes it a win !

I like Nick's videos but strongly disagree with him on the GTS . He detests alcantara and that's the root of his disdain in my opinion . I remember his first 911 and how he went on ad nauseam about leather wrapping and opting for deviated stitching to practically nest in the very car that he had Porsche buy back (only to have them fix it and resurface again at an independent lot in Florida ).

He has there right not to like the car but that bias is showing in this video about a car that isn't even here yet for him to drive . Perhaps if his dealership hands him a green car with brown leather and decorative stitching rear seat centers of his gorillas he might warm up to it.

Thanks. Your preferences have made the sports-car world a worse place.

One thing Nick didn’t mention is in the 991, buying the GTS gave one a wide body in a 2WD format. This is no longer the case in the 992.

Nick mentioned the 991.2 GTS gave a small bump in HP, but at the cost of increased turbo lag as compared to the S. Is this what others have experienced?

The wide body also came with the 997 GTS . One thing he mentioned is the idea of a parts bin special . That came from somewhere . The 993 had a rear wheel wide body in 1998 . There was no 993 Turbo . There was no 993 base car .It was called the Carrera S . It was a way for Porsche to clear parts but those cars are even worth more now . The sad part is that since it did occur it led to misinformation about other Porsches afterwards .

Any turbo engine will not be an NA engine . Frankly I find the low end torque better for the street but of course love the high rev notes and seamless acceleration of the NA . . each has something great..However for Nick to split hairs between a Carrera S and GTS in measures of lag is ridiculous . They both have turbo engine . He notices. a more tweaked throttle map with the Panamera and Cayenne but not with a 911 . Keep in mind he hasn't even seen one in person .
