are they LED illuminated? The photos I’ve seen online look like they’re standard halogen bulbs behind the gills. Can you confirm? I’m placing an order for the 992 GTS to replace my C2S and I’m considering the option for some added flair. Thanks!

I got the “illuminated gills” option on my 992 GTS and my impression is that the LED light from the main taillights “bleeds” through to the gills rather than them being lit by a separate light source (they are a bit fainter in illumination).
Still looks cool though and I’m glad I got it given the relatively cheap price to add to GTS.

@Swayze the LEDs are quite bright so definitely visible in daylight; maybe not so if bright sunlight shining directly on it.
I can try to get a picture if you want.

I'm surprised you already have a GTS! I thought allocations haven't been available, at least in the DC area.. Congrats though.

So we basically paid for a hole somewhere in the tail light housing. Lol.

It seems like they took this option off the configurator and now it just says exclusive design taillights which is weird as that comes stock with the GTS. So I’m not sure what they did to that option. My cars been at the detail shop so not sure if my window sticker says lateral gill or exclusive design for the $170.

Funny I just noticed the same thing - first on the configurator, then on my config as presented on track your dream. It is option code 8VH.

I got my car back this weekend and when I checked the window sticker my car shipped with exclusive design taillights vs the illuminated lateral gills I selected at order. Near as I can tell mine don’t light up and not sure exactly what Porsche did with that $170 since the GTS already comes stock with the exclusive design headlights.

Totally agree, especially under current circumstances where people are not getting cars, or losing carbon ceramics or PDCC, not mention real world issues. I know it’s the tiniest of things, just curious what it is that they did. So not concerned that I didn’t get the gills, it just seems like they did something so would love to figure out what.

The GTS comes with clear tail lights, not the Exclusive Design tail lights. That $170 gets you the lateral gills. There are photos showing the subtle differences between the clear tail lights and the Exclusive Design tail lights. They are not the same.
