Hi I have a 2021 992 C4S I purchased in March 2021. I have put on 3,730 miles on the car mostly highway.
I live in NYC and only drive on trips to the country on the weekends. I drive the car like it should be driven........ After a proper break-in period I honestly drive the car like I stole it.
Not in an abusive way. I love my car.
My oil level according to my porsche connect app is a hair above the minimum level.
Is this normal in this short period of time, given the way I drive it?
check it on the car gauge. The control app sometimes shows there’s less oil and then it’ll reboot and show full. I saw the same thing on the app and then checked in the car and the car was full but the gauge on the app showed similar to yours.carl
I have the same experience. Sometimes the app an the car are not in sync.
Btw i was changing yesterday the oil. The engine was hot and we had to fill 8,5l instead of the suggested 8l. The guy from the workshop told me that if the oil is hot more comes out....?
Sometimes the car will burn a bit of oil during the "break in" period.
As 4carl said up above, check the actual reading on MFD.
yup.. when you rev the engine and drive it hard, you'll burn some off, especially early on. My last car was an S4 and broke it in via the hard break in (after getting up to temp, vary your RPM, going up and down, stay a way from red line, but drive it hard, down shift, don't just keep it steady). That first 1000 miles i burnt off about 1/4 of a quart. After that, even though i continued to drive the car hard, i never burned any oil off in 8 years and 52k miles.
By the way, does this car have a dipstick? Mine's still on order, and haven't noticed anyone mention it. if not, is there a port you can put one in?
The on-line website is notoriously inaccurate. The app on my iPhone is better but still not 100%. The indication displayed on the Instrument Panel seems to be the most trustworthy. Now, if the car sits long enough, with the ignition on, the engine off and a good internet connection, the three will eventually come into agreement. The operative word here is "eventually". FWIW, In roughly 4,500 miles my oil consumption has been zero, or so close to it that it doesn't register.

No dipstick.
No physical anyone. Just an "electronic dipstick".

Coming up to 20k miles, my gauge hasn’t changed — very low oil consumption.
When the car was first delivered it was full for me, after first service and since it hovers around half. According to my dealership, this is how they do it. so IDK.
No oil usage at all in first 10,000 km. After first change at that mileage, the dealer refilled to about 3/4 green on the gauge and advised that they intentionally underfill slightly. This past weekend - after another 9,000 km (total 19,000) - added 3 or 4 ounces to take it back to the 3/4 level. Will do second oil change in the next few weeks (one every October before winter driving, and one every June before summer romping). I've been consistently running the car at higher RPM since the snow/ice disappeared, which I think accounts for the very minimal oil usage in the past few thousand km.
