Do re-read my first post, especially the line where I recommend a C2S for travelling.
You are simply trying to convince yourself that you have made the right decision in selecting the C2 vs the C2S and that is your business.
Don't waste your time attempting to convince people who are highly performance oriented and well versed in such matters that a Base Carrera will be more "fun" or satisfying to drive than the higher performing S model. It just does not work that way regardless of where you are driving my friend.

Wrong, my friend.

A C2 is more fun to drive in the streets, and that's a fact. And a C2S is more fun to drive in highways, roads, tracks, and that's also a fact.

If you disagree with that, then it's not I who is trying to justify my purchase...

Most fun car I've owned is my manual transmission BRZ. My car history is RSX, BRZ, Golf R, and currently drive a RS3. 992 c2s on order, thought about getting the new BRZ, but it's always been my dream to have a 911

Did you just try to pass off an assessment of “fun” as a fact? I’m pretty sure that’s not how it works. Whether something brings a person “enjoyment, amusement, or lighthearted pleasure” is pretty much by definition subjective.

Nice looking Mini, we had a ‘65 850 Mini in the family for years and it was a lot of fun as were the many Cooper’s and 1275 Clubman’s I was lucky enough to have get to drive over the years. Although to be frank the most fun cars we ever had on those days were a couple of Fiat 500’s, the ‘50s/60’s ones. Top speed 49mph, swing axle rear end, crash box. A real hoot.

But the statement here was that somehow a C2 is more fun in the city than a C2S, and that the reverse is true on the highway.

Have you owned both? Define ‘fun’.

I test-drove both for a week before making my decision.
The C2S isn't as enjoyable in the city as it is in open roads, highways and tracks.

Yeah, silly me, you have it all figured out Dude.
Less powerful is more desirable in a performance vehicle.
A Miata is therefore much more fun and engaging than a 911 Turbo S.
Ridiculous.

From what I've heard .... the C2 is possibly a better car for around town. The engine hits peak torque lower in the rev range and the car is obviously lighter. If they made that thing in a manual, that's the car I would have.

Is it?

My car has 4 way seats, sunroof delete, PCCBs. I'd bet it's lighter than the commonly equipped Carrera.

Max torque of the Carrera is 331 lb/ft at 1900 RPM. Max torque for C2s is 390 lb/ft ~ 2300 RPM. What is the torque of the C2S at 1900 RPM? More?

Peak power for both is at 6500 RPM and the C2S is obviously more.

The Carrera takes a smidge longer through the gears, so you may hear more noise at the same speeds. It has smaller tires and a softer suspension (relative to SPASM). Otherwise, it's the same car, but slower.

You can argue that the C2S is maybe not worth it over the Carrera. But to say it's outright inferior is a whole different argument.

And driving through town, in traffic, I've never heard anyone say a slower, less powerful car is more desirable. Slower cars are more fun when the roads are empty and you can really wind them out and explore the powerband. And, IMO, that argument applies mostly to NA engines and physically smaller cars than this.

The Base is 24lbs lighter, because it has smaller brakes and smaller wheels. I am not sure that puts it in the “obviously lighter” camp. That’s less than four gallons of gas. It’s a less than 1% weight difference in exchange for, you know, bigger brakes …and bigger wheels.

Considering that the S cars make 17% more horsepower and 18% more torque. Oh, and that torque hits between 2000 and 2500RPM, where the S makes more torque than the Base car ever makes. By any definition, in the automotive world, that’s at the very bottom of the rev range.

Given the above, I don’t see how a Base Carrera is a better car in a city environment.

Just to be clear, I think that the Base Carrera is a great car, but setting aside the lower price of entry, there’s no metric or use case where it is superior to the S.

The decision between these two trims is a matter of budget and/or the desire to have a manual transmission. The Base car is great, but if you can swing the S, it is most certainly worth it.

Not true, unless you’re confusing “turbo lag” with “torque”. 🤪

The Base Carrera is a fine car. It’s not necessary to shovel bull**** about it.

I have already put 18k miles on my C4S and will probably have another 10k miles on it by October. There’s not much turbo lag to speak of… at all.
