Sarcasm? Pretty much standard on most other cars…for years.

This thread seems like the “Festivus” tradition of, “airing of the grievances”? I would add to the aforementioned grievances:

(1) No front radiator mesh/protective grills as standard equipment.
(2) No HUD. IMO, a must have feature for any sports car, where the driver’s attention needs to be focused on the road.

I've listed my numerous gripes for a while: no washer on rear wiper, shaver, no AM radio, no way to adjust seat belt height, no way to permanently disable ***, PCM takes forever to boot, outer 2 gauges invisible, odometer reset is a pain, Homelink now burried in the PCM, rattles ...

As to folding mirrors they are heated, they turn on via the rear window defrost.

That is what I thought, but too lazy to read the manual, and have not used it yet. But was pretty sure the folding side mirrors were heated.

Totally right, no sense in all of us reading the manual

Exactly. 👀 I’ve read sections of the manual on things that concern me, or have a question about. Heated side mirrors was not one of them.👍 I just assumed they were heated, until proven otherwise….and then I would fall back to the manual to see if there was a button I needed to press?

Real question is how many of these gripes get remedied with a mid cycle refresh? Of the original 6 I'd bet zero. HUD addition would be much welcome though.

I have heard that the lack of HUD is due to the shape of the windshield and that they are not willing to change that design/shape to accommodate. I have zero idea how accurate that is but I can see the logic to it.

A friend of mine has it in his Q7, I find it distracting - but who knows one might get used to it over time; just not a do or die item for me anyway.

Well, I think a lot of folks find HUD to be one of the better options found on MB, BMW, Audi, etc…Being able to keep one’s focus straight ahead on the road/ HUD, and not on the PCM, is a good thing.

But all this is mute, since it’s not an option on the 911, nor does it appear to be coming anytime soon (ie, 992.2).

You do and I love it on my M5. I find it annoying to drive my other cars without it. That's my biggest beef with the Tesla designs - the placement of the infotainment slab forces you to divert your eyes from where they should be.

Absolutely. There’s that, but in addition, all functions, all feedback on the Tesla have to go through the tablet. You can’t do anything on the Tesla, without having to take your eyes off the road, and onto the tablet in the lower center of the consul. IMO, not just an inconvenience, but also a safety hazard.
