Default Things that seem like a miss!

Picked up my 992 last Friday and have been exploring it and a few things that seem like a miss or a bit odd and cheap...

1) Why put a phone shaped pad in the center console that is not a charge pad
2) Why are the electric folding mirrors not heated
3) Why is there not a button that moves ALL the windows up or down (my cab has for windows) - there is even a blank where it could go
4) Why have some of the metal from the hood exposed in front trunk where it could get dented from the inside - a bit of cladding would cost minimal $$
5) Why put piano black plastic in the most exposed and scratch prone area - and you can't even option in something else
6) Why not have both a skip track forward and skip track back button on the steering wheel

I am sure I will find others - but would be interested to hear other thoughts...

OK, you sold me - the rattles. Way too much plastic and too little deadening within all surfaces (doors, dash, vents, etc.). You may not have one right away, but after a couple drives on less than ideal pavement and they rear their ugly head.

Oh, and the flex groans of the sunroof on uneven surfaces.

Comfort access.
Garage opener.
Saggy/creased seat leather.
Non sport bumper design
The spoiler design is ugly. The 991.2 spoiler looked much nicer to me.
The clicking noise at low speed and light throttle
Favorite station skip.

Yes! The garage door one is a good one... Why not just do a button on the roof console like everyone else!

I am still waiting delivery on my first Porsche so I have no real world experience. I love the look of the car I am sure I will be more than happy with the performance of the car. Having said that I am amazed and what does not come standard on such an expensive car in this day and age. It is kind of crazy the things you have to pay extra for things that are standard on many $20k cars. I suppose that is why Porsche makes more money per car than any other car maker in the world. No one has put a gun to our heads to make us buy them so I suppose we cannot really complain.

I wonder if any other automobile in the world can undergo this level of scrutiny and come out unscathed. Granted, the car isn't 100 percent flawless, but I think that this deep dive into every conceivable shortcoming, no matter how minor, impinges on one's ability to enjoy the car as much as it deserves to be. And yes, Porsche charges a lot for things that come standard on much cheaper cars, but it might make sense to think of the 911 as a $150,000 car that can be de-optioned to meet a constrained budget. In terms of quality and performance, the 911 is at least the equal of the Aston, the AMG and the Audi R8, and all of those cars are pricier. Perfection is a pretty tough standard to apply to any car.

No heated mirrors? That’s going to suck. Is that only with the folding mirrors?

I bet selling the car will make you feel better than grumbling or hearing about other’s grumbles.

You’ll have no problem selling your grumble-worthy, annoying 992.

Unless of course you’d rather keep it and make sure you have something good to grumble over.

I for one embrace the scrutiny.

1. That's odd, is there any option (OEM or 3rd party) to enable this?
2. Are heated mirrors even an option? Dang. That sucks.
3. This behavior might be programmable or hidden in the PCM (a guess.)
4. So you can spend $$$ on plastic parts https://www.suncoastparts.com/product/DASSCHILD911.html
5. Bad trends, sadly many cars suffer from this
6. You can technically program this into the favorite, but I agree. I think it's meant for things like satellite radio, which typically doesn't allow for rewind/prev track.

After two months my Porsche connect still doesn’t connect. I can make phone calls with Bluetooth but none of the remote features work. My latest strategy is to threaten a buy back..The dealer has made four attempts and I’ve called the porsche technical line 9 times. Other little things I ordered a white tack and on the configurator is showed black numbers. The problem is as soon as you start the car it lights up the numbers so you have white numbers on a white background .. How this got through I’ll never know . I also I’m not a lover of the plastic oil pan and fragile drain plug, same as all Vw products. The reason why they’re using it is simple cheaper to make and lighter weight.
I ordered mine with only the options that made a difference in driving performance and feel. ...SPASM. MT four-way sport plus seats small diameter Steering wheel the only cosmetics I bought was aluminum trim on the doors and dash. Problem I have with porsche and I’ve had 18 of them is they nickel and dime you but it’s not nickels and dimes its thousands .My car has a standard interior no other options told a friend that was over the weekend I said it’s” got a great interior for a $40,000 “car problem is its not a 40k car,,, porsche gets away with charging for things that other manufactures provide as standard equipment on cars costing less than half as much. But I guess that’s why porsche is the most profitable car company in the world? Putting all bullsh-t aside I really like the car ..I came out of a GT4 the 992 isn’t quite as intense but it’s a great compromise Way more user-friendly. It’s actually feels more comfortable than my DD M2C ... Carl

There's only two windows. Would it kill you to use two fingers?
