As soon as they change the shift lever to something else, the "braun shaver" will become an instant classic, sought after by enthusiasts everywhere.
20 years from now, it'll be "I just love the PDK shift lever on the 992. So exquisite. So stylish. So sporty. You just can't find details like that on cars these days."

...because the 918 Spyder is a hybrid, where a traditional console shifter makes little or no sense to begin with.

I like the Braun shaver. Minimalistic and matches the other buttons, and the Taycan, and the 918. I think it is cohesive with the design and has good tactile feel and action.
I wasn't a fan of the bulky 991 PDK lever.
I would rather the Braun shaver on the 992 GT3 than a fake gear shifter, but would also prefer the real gear shifter to the PDK.

lol. This topic never dies. For those keeping score, I’m going with the $730 aluminum shifter thing this time on the TTS.

Talking about shifters... Anyone here with the optional aluminium shifter?
Hard to tell any difference in the configurator - but it made logic sense to opt for aluminium rather than plastic, especially since I see some are experiencing cracks on their plastic gear *****... I’m waiting for a c4s mid-May delivery.
Pictures would be appreciated👍🏻

I don't think the 992 GT3 has a "fake" shifter to just look the part. The GT department isn't like that.
One of the numerous GT3 reviews released in the flood on embargo day (4/20) mentioned that the Sport PDK (vanilla PDK derivative) that the GT cars use is still cable-selected (not the gears themselves, but P, N, R, and D.) And obviously the 992 non-GT products are not.
That's the most probable theory I've heard, at least.

That’s probably because they were too busy designing the fake vents 😜

Disappointed.
Just disappointed.
