What’s substantially different with ‘22 PCM?

Also, I noticed that the window surround is now silver instead of black, as default. Funny, it was a $400 option to get them silver in MY21

Some RAM and software upgrades. Hopefully improved boot time, usability and reliability. Time will tell.

It does not - at least for the first three years

for the low low price of just $360, you can extend CarPlay “past three years”.

If you think that sucks, Ferrari charges $4,000-$5,000 to add CarPlay to a car.

yeah, I’m wondering the same. Are they planning to disable CarPlay in the PCM if you don't buy the extra? Confused....

I was told in the system even though it was a June build, it was estimated for a July delivery. My CA said that is probably false and would be either August or September. I’m on the east coast, does it seriously take that long after production? Jeez. But can’t wait!

P.S. even though my dealer and build sheet said it’s a MY21, there’s not a chance it would automatically flip to a MY22, right?
you should wait

I saw this mentioned earlier in the thread as something that may be coming in the future but are you seeing it in the current configurator? I’m not. But hopefully I’m just not looking in the right place because this is something I’ve been looking forward to. The option to add dash cams without having to tear the car apart to install is very appealing to me.

CarPlay actually stinks, at least in my last bmw, the head unit software is better than CarPlay. About the only thing CarPlay is good for running Waze natively. As far as the 2% price increase, commodity inflation is out of control - aluminum alone is up 44% in the last year. I am surprised the price increase is only 2%.

I hate CarPlay. I only use it for Waze and Tidal. It is always glitchy, in every car I’ve owned, CarPlay never works right.

According to the Standard Features summary, the window surround remains as matte black. Gloss black or Silver are options.

No. Wireless Carplay will be free for the first three years after which it would a a feature you "subscribe and pay for." That's our collective understanding.

I've read whereby car mfg are now building cars with options, features and services built-in, right from the factory and delivered with the base car. If you want the feature at some later date, you have to pay to "unlock" the feature in your own car.

Second that. Commodities are thru the roof--metals, plastics, textiles--and of course transport and logistics. Companies like Porsche or VW group would've negotiated large contracts and are able to hedge against the steep runups to a certain degree, though.

Of course, once industry stabilizes we might see commodities level back down.

The IBM ‘golden screwdriver’ approach . They did it with mainframes back in the 60’s.
