Some say they are not as comfortable as the non-ventilated. In fact, in the 15 minutes sitting in the showroom -I was like "my skinny butt hurts" - so I did everything to avoid them. But at the end of the day it would have meant spending an extra $1K just to NOT have them. That seemed silly.
The worst part is that silly netting that comes with the Premium Package - I really wanted to avoid that as well. Failed twice. But I saved big money
I think this is why it’s so important to try a variety of seating options in the showroom. I have a skinny butt too but never had an issue.

Agreed - except - my dealer, and all the other dealers around me in Chicago, only had cars with the Premium package - so they all had ventilated seats.
THIS was in Feb. Today? The dealers barely have any cars! So trying to find an 18 way non-ventilated seat is like finding a spotted snow leopard
I’d totally get a base Carrera if it were available in a manual. I’d just get Bose, 4-ways, Sport Chrono, Sport Exhaust and Glass Roof (power roof at least) and be done. I’d be happy with a manual 996 Coupe. I think I can make a 992 work LOOL.

Sounds good. I'd do a base Carrera to with manual, Bose, Sport Chrono standard wheels in a darker tone and no roof options. Will be in the "S" as I need the 3rd pedal.
Oh, to update the thread, this is the build that just entered production: http://www.porsche-code.com/PMVADYQ2
If this was not my first factory-fresh 911 I would probably have forgone this 7k:

I have a 996 MT and have never had a PDK car, so I'm actually pretty excited for it.
I'm a base 992 guy and had a $125k budget so I was on a similar path. I thought I absolutely needed folding mirrors but hate the way the car looks when they're folded in so I never use them. I HAD to have the ambient lighting but ended up I'm one of the few people that think they did a terrible job on the colors and the color matching, so it's turned off. The only thing I had in addition to your build and some of the comment s is that I had the bottom of the side mirrors painted in body color. Looks a bit more classy to me, although I understand the black contrast looks cool too. I'll second or third the Bose suggestion too. The 992 has the best implementation of bose that I've experienced in a P-car.
Bottom line -- you've got a great build going and regardless of what you end up on, you're gonna LOVE it. Kicking-@$$ every day.

ps - just noticed my avatar has the mirrors folded must have been an early pic.
I'm 6'4" tall - 225 lbs. I have the Sport Seats Plus - 4 way..The seat backs are too narrow and fit UNDER my right. shoulder blade. This is because I am forced to turn a bit sideways at all times due to the narrow bolsters and naturally twist to my right. I was not able to try them out prior to purchase since this was a new in-stock car that was an out of state purchase. $840 bucks plus tax for a small seat back, ouch! It became quite noticeable after some driving miles. I have narrow shoulders for my height and weight. If you are a broad shouldered guy you might want to rethink these seats.....
Mine has the base audio which sucks. The tire noise is so loud with the "S" wheels "upgrade" that I have considered earplugs at times on these miserable chip seal Texas rural roads. Not sure if the stock (nearly identical wheels) would be any quieter or ride any smoother. You may wish to look further into that and possibly save yourself nearly $2K. I am an audiophile and was a professional musician for years. This car is suitable for talk radio but not music due to road noise, IMHO. Mine came with the totally unnecessary folding mirrors. The car is very narrow and I don't park anywhere near other cars or structures where they would have to be retracted. The stock exhaust is waaaay too quiet. Seems like I read somewhere that some dealers will download an exhaust upgrade to make it a bit louder for around $500 as opposed to the $3K for the PSE. I would like to find out more details about this. Compared to my 392 Hemi Scat Pack Challenger this car sounds like a hair dryer that has a muffler on it!

So what do you believe is the most comfortable seat for a broad shouldered person?

My base carrera is due in about 45 days. Im 6’6” and wear a 56 coat. Ill try to remember to report back here how the 4 way standard seats feel for the broad shouldered.

you have to try them yourself. Some folks much bigger than me are absolutely comfortable in the carbon buckets. I find them good but snug. Some guys aren’t sure how they’ll get out of the car without the SA’s help. I love the 18 way myself. Some thinner folks slide around during track driving. Some folks are quite happy with the basic. Personally, you’re spending $100k+ on a car. The seats and steering wheel are basically your only interface to the car. Not the time to cheap out. it’s like cheaping out on your tires …
My 992 is the only one I have ever driven or even sat inside due to Covid. I can't advise as to which seat I would have chosen if I had been given a choice. Now that things have have started to open up a bit (and if you could find some 992's in stock) you should try them out for personal fit and comfort. Also for me, turning sideways to get out of the car and sliding across the seat bottom side bolsters is a real nut crusher that can only be avoided by extreme contortions and undignified movements!
