Very common around here (SoCal)

Stunning car.

IMHO best looking 911 variant out there today.

Hahaha. My wife would find that comment especially amusing. We share the 992 (here is a pic of her on delivery day) and those days she picks me up at work I can hear the car coming two blocks away. The other pic is of her during her Jim Russell 3-day Techniques of Racing course. The Van Diemen F2000 cars used in the course have a Hewland manual gearbox, so proper heel-and-toeing is a pre-requisite to achieving smooth, fast lap times. On the final day of the program she turned in fastest lap of the day.

My wife took the honor of "first drive" of our 992 (shown here exiting showroom)

There's something intoxicating about watching/listening to your wife nail the downshifts/upshifts through Namrow at Mont Tremblant

Yup, first time I ever laid eyes on my wife was when she was downshifting her GSX-R on the way into our gym parking lot.

Then I spent about an hour behind the wheel this weekend of a C4S.

Oh my ****, what a ride. The car takes corners (in wet conditions) way way faster than I ever had. The sound is intoxicating. I felt so secure and confident, but also fairly scared at how damn fast it is. The PDK is the most amazing thing ever. Very active downshifts, instant response all the time. Plus the supernatural shifts from normal to sport (even the engine shut down) was very clever. I loved the small details -- the heated seats and steering wheel were very comfortable, not too hot, just warm enough. Even the glass sunroof was amazing.

Now I'm a bit confused -- I was getting mentally prepared to wait 4-6 months for a custom C2S with 7MT. However teh PDK and C4S was so good, I think I could quickly get one off the lot somewhere in the country and have an awesome roadtrip to boot.

Not sure if I have a question here -- its impossible to find a 7mt to test drive, so I don't know how much of a step change it is compared to the PDK (and to be honest, i would NEVER, EVER be able to match the performance of a PDK anyway, and with a PDK I'd feel more comfortable going to a track day). Am crazy to not wait? Anyone move from a PDK to MT because they were suddenly out of love with the car? What would I lose if I move from C2S to C4S?

P.S. it took me about 30 min for my heart to calm down after the test drive. I think I'm addicted.

Tesla’s do some great 0-60. That’s it. One trick pony. Over 80 they fade.

I'm with chicco 992.

For the past 6 months I've been LOVING my new 992 C4S w/PDK, rear steering and PDCC. I come from a pretty slick Audi B9 RS5... but this 911 is my first "proper" high end sports car.

My good friend just picked up a 922 C4S with manual and we spent this past weekend trading cars on windy roads and highways.

The verdict? We both loved both versions for different reasons.

Notes on PDK:
  • Unreal responsiveness. I spend 95% of my time with the paddles but there is no question, especially in highway driving that full automatic in Sport Plus is BLISTERINGLY fast(er).
  • I love how quickly the car (in paddle or auto) can skip gears on downshifts which leads to awesome high RPM sound and of course the boost...
  • The Porsche Sport Response Button is much more effective in full auto vs. w/paddles
  • Paddles on backroads is preferred for "feel"
Notes on 7 speed manual:
  • 1st and 2nd gears while accelerating aggressively definitely took some/a lot of practicing. A bit tough to really nail the first 1 or 2 shifts.
  • As the PDK guy, I was blown away by the rev matching while downshifting the manual. My buddy didn't tell me about the rev matching the first time I tried the manual and after just a short time in the car, I was quickly comfortable especially on twisty roads.
  • We both loved the shifter and throw lengths
  • In town and traffic, not that fun.
Hopefully helpful.

THANK YOU for posting observations based on a real world comparison of both transmissions. And neither camp needs to feel ashamed. Everything I’ve read says for maximum speed, even on the track, leave PDK in full auto.

Flew in to get the car — as amazing as I remembered from the test drive, only its MINE! Also featured is a cheeseburger animal style from In and Out, which was also fabulous! Now waiting for the transporter to deliver it home

It looks great! Very similar to how I would spec it. Congrats on the new car! Hope you enjoy the PDK
