try a c4s with pdk, rear steering axle and pdcc and then tell me if it is not the closest thing to a razor
It’s not the closest thing to a razor. There, done.

Don't count on it. Not many sitting around.

Huh? If it were any closer to a razor, Braun's IP attorneys would wake up stuck to their sheets.

Having driven an awd 911 in anger in heavy rain, on and off track, I can say it’s fantastic and I don’t even know what more I’d want from the car given the road conditions. You do need the right tires for your moment…

I loved manual so much I wouldn’t test drive a PDK. Then I found a car I loved and it had PDK so I thought I would try it out. WOW! It is the most amazing transmission I have ever experienced. I love it in sport plus mode and I love it even more in manual mode. The shifts up and down are incredible. So fast!

In my opinion the PDK elevates the 911. It takes it beyond a sports car, for me.

I love threads like this where other people have fallen in love with the PDK.

Cheers!

Well, the OP is getting me super excited! ...after an interminable wait since last September and a long ocean voyage to the West Coast, my C4S is at the dealer being prepped with PPF before I pick up.

Its heavily optioned at $165K but is just the way I want it. Has all the razor options too! Porsche code if curious: PM916JU4

Dear lord, you really did tick the boxes!

I thought it was wrong to tick pdcc (and therefore RAS) but it happened anyway! Well worth while imo, non spasm cars ride better, but the handling is simply sublime with pdcc and RAS.

As for pdk, it’s the best non manual gearbox I’ve ever used. Only time I drive manuals now is when getting holiday hire cars... not a fair comparison but always happy to get back in the lazy left foot motor.

so...
I deduce that all those who choose a manual RWD are real very skilled drivers who use the car only in dry conditions.
so why do I read about all these 911s used only in the summer?

rather, I fear that we are talking about the typical resistance to change of romantic Porsche customers ( analogic Vs Digital....)

infinitely closer to a razor than a RWD without rear-axle steering and PDCC.

hahahahahah

in reality in the first photo it is us (all of us...) who imagine ourselves while configuring a 991, we have demands from first-class drivers.

then comes the sad reality
how many of these racers with track needs ever remove traction control and drive their RWD to feel the sensations they demand from their old school Porsche ... few ... very few ...

maybe none

Actually I wasn’t trolling, my suggestion was serious. The coin flip thing really works in terms of helping confirm a decision that one has likely already made in his mind but doesn’t know it yet. Psychologists have known this for decades. Anyways, I’m sure the poster will be happy with whatever choice he makes, how can he not be? It’s a Porsche!
cheers

OP — Whatever you decide regarding MT vs PDK, I’d take the wait time out of the equation unless you have a terminal illness or something. You’ve been waiting your whole life, what’s a few more months? Get an allocation and custom order it exactly the way you want. Obsessing for weeks over whether you should do a badge delete or not is half the fun. Instant gratification is over-rated.

As a McLaren convert (570S Spider) I can tell you there is nothing boring about a C4S with PDK and it doesn't lack a lively personality. I will say it is more approachable at the limits than some other cars I have driven, but I believe all 911s are at this point. The rear of the car will still step out on corner exit under hard acceleration, but in a very controllable way. I was recently in the canyons with some friends (I was leading since I was most familiar with the roads we were on that day) that have some VERY expensive cars like 765LT and 720S and they were shocked at how capable the 992 C4S is. The Porsche never complained and lead with a pace where everyone was happy and not looking for more. Quite and achievement when you consider there is a $350K price gap between my car and the most expensive in the group. For the record, I don't think there is a wrong choice in either of your options. I live in the LA area and dealing with freeways in a MT car is just not something I wanted to deal with. Good luck on your choice!
