is there a way to change the color of the tach numbers so you can see them??

I think its still the same...it only looks bad on pics when you are in your garage and lights on auto...daylight in garage to see the instruments yet lights turn on because it senses the "dark garage".

At night, all I see is the illuminated lights and not the color ring. No issue.

Some of us swapped the dials (I did swap mine to yellow) and we posted a few pics. Not terrible hard if you work slow and methodically.
