John, it looks like if you already have your cats they can't be used with the system? The bend radius looks tighter?

That is correct, the factory cats and muffler ,along with any aftermarket products build to interchange with them, are limited to 2.75" diameter. This system is full 3" diameter, and on top of that the bend profile is indeed different. For those that want to a compliment an existing set of our sport cats, we do have a valved muffler being released soon to mate up to factory or our sport cats. The flowpath of our upcoming muffler replacement (similar design to our 718 GT4 Valved Exhaust System) has an X-Pipe internally on the muffler itself, and externally bypassing the muffler with similar sound characteristics of this performance exhaust system.

That's great news. I was an early adopter of the Soul sport Cats, more than a year ago. I love the sound and the extra power with the companion tuning. Looking forward for the aftermarket valved version to replace the PSE.

^ Exactly, I just installed the sport cats a few months ago and I'd rather buy a system that is already compatible with these.

However, if the price different isn't that much, it might be worth just replacing with the 3" system if the sound is much better.

I have to admit that this is all getting confusing, though. I wish the new system that Soul had developed would have already been compatible with the sport cats they released last year. But I know that that probably would've been impossible....

We apologize for the confusion. The flow path of the catalytic converter sections on the Performance Exhaust has a different design and termination point than factory - whereas the factory cats have a 90ish degree bend, our piping hooks back in a bit to fit into the rear exhaust section. To fit a full 3" system with X-pipe and anti-drone tubes on the car we needed to get creative with the placement of everything. We could possibly alter the design in the future to fit with stock cats, but we didn't attempt it as we wanted to design a full 3" system with as minimal choke points as possible. Our upcoming Valved Exhaust will utilize the factory catalytic converter style sections just fine.

You guys have certainty thought out and designed what looks to be a superb exhaust system for the 992. Sounds great too! Have you done any dyno testing to back it up? I've been told by reputable tuners that some 992 exhausts actually lose power on the dyno - especially the catless versions. Something to do the with ECU dialing things back because the turbo is spooling up faster than the ECU thinks it should (because of decreased restriction) and thus limiting power. Other manufacturers (Fabspeed, CMG) claim huge power gains by only adding cat backs.

Valved Exhaust System Development

You may have noticed that your factory valves are quite busy...we affixed a Go Pro to the underside of our development 992 to give you a better look at them operating:

The factory valves are electronically controlled unlike older “open or closed” vacuum style valves. Able to work variably, the valves will gradually open and close depending on several factors of engine operation. Even under full throttle application in Sport mode the valves will still not stay open 100% of the time.

With this in mind it was imperative that our Valved Exhaust System have a smooth transition during valve operation. To tame drone we made use of our bespoke X-pipe muffler. Internally this muffler is quite unique. It has little to no restriction in the flow path, using straight through piping that is perforated to allow exhaust gasses to escape and become muffled in the surrounding packing material of the muffler body. We incorporated an internal X-pipe to allow the exhaust flow to merge smoothly. These characteristics combined were crucial towards reducing and smoothing out the drone in the 2,000-2,400rpm range while enhancing that higher pitched note we were after in both the valves closed and open conditions. With valves open exhaust gases are free to flow through 3″ piping with an x-pipe to enhance the tone before exiting out the tips. Exhaust gasses still have a secondary flow path to “talk” with the muffler, encouraging a fuller, more robust tone.

The end result is an improvement over the factory PSE without being overbearing. The cross talk with the muffler helps to take the edge off a cold start but it will still have a greater presence than stock. The volume settles down to a nice burble and a nice increase in cabin presence throughout the RPM range. Have a listen:

The system pairs well with our Sport Catalytic Converters to unlock more turbo sound. If you're curious about upgrading your 992 with our components - do give us a call so we can tailor a recommendation for your specific needs!

LIFETIME WARRANTY: Enjoy your SOUL exhaust components for your Porsche with confidence on both the street and track as they are covered by our Lifetime Warranty! Our team will quickly work with you to resolve any issues or answer any questions that you may have.

Here's Max building a prototype system! Each system is assembled in house in the USA out of mandrel bent, thick wall .065″” T304L stainless steel. Back purged TIG welding (with ARCAL™ Prime argon gas) ensures proper weld penetration and longevity. Water jet cut flanges are made to ISO 9001:2015 standards with tolerances of +/- 0.003 inches for extreme precision. We fabricate this exhaust using thick gauge aluminum fixtures which act as a great heat sink during the welding process and prevent warping not only of our products, but the fixtures themselves to ensure perfect fitment. Thank you everyone for your interest! We've got more content in the works! We do have several R&D prototypes if anyone is looking for a more cost effective alternative to our final products. Shoot us a PM if you're interested!

Definitely interested in one of your later prototypes with sports cat! Does performance match the final product? Also, do you offer tunes? Thanks!

We produced several versions with different anti-drone provisions - primarily helmholtz resonators to tackle drone. The anti-drone tubes are not as effective as our dialed in production version but still do reduce drone. We absolutely offer tunes to pair with this system, we will PM you now!

The Sport Cats being an emissions device would likely cause issues but the rear exhaust section shouldn't be a major issue. They can't void your warranty, but they can deny warranty claims claiming your aftermarket modifications as the reason. There are dealerships that will not touch or support anything that doesn’t have an OEM part number on it. There are dealerships that purchase, sell, and install all manner of aftermarket products (including SOUL exhaust systems) and even have their own dedicated performance departments. What you will experience at your dealership will vary. At the end of the day, it is up to the discretion of your dealership to take the necessary steps to ensure submitting a warranty claim in a way that will be accepted by the OE company. You can absolutely have aftermarket components on your car and still have your warranty intact and used without issue. This requires proper communication with your service manager and their willingness to accommodate any steps needed to fulfill the warranty requirements. If you would like to discuss this in more depth and/or have us contact your dealership to discuss an exhaust upgrade, please give us a call we would be happy to make the necessary arrangements to ensure you are comfortable with maintaining your warranty.
