Base Carrera vs Carrera S

Burning Brakes
Isn't a lot of 'lag' due to electronic/PDK settings/control of throttle response, etc.? I haven't driven my manual C2S much but have noticed zero lag.

Either way...in my opinion...the torque on the base comes on quicker than the S. The S is ultimately much faster once the boost kicks in.

As I mentioned above (nobody read my post?) the only conceivable way that the S can have more turbo lag is because the turbos are larger.
Thus, using Isaac Newton's laws, a larger object will have more inertia, thus maybe it takes more force to spool the larger turbos.
However, perhaps that is compensated by the fact that the S has a more powerful engine and more forceful exhaust stream, hence negating said inertia disadvantages?
Anybody want to take a stab at this?

There are literally scores of testaments by those who have driven and/or owned both the Base and "S" that poke a fork in the noticeable "turbo lag" myth that the Base model owners seem to cling too.

I’m in the decision making phase prior to placing my order. Want to make sure I make the right call.
I can afford either car...so I have no bias.

There's no wrong call. Drive modes do make a difference in the response. The 992 is a fairly large and fairly heavy GT car. It isn't go cart and if you're looking to dart in and out of traffic, as you said above - it's probably the wrong car for you. Good luck with your decision.

But after every test drive, I come away with the same thought that the Base is so much more fun to drive.

Buy the Base 992 as your "starter" Porsche, get it with absolutely minimal options. This is what I did with my first Porsche if you google "base Porsche 911 is all you really need" you will see my car just before I picked it up from OPC. After enjoying my 2014 C2 until now I have a better idea of what I really want in my 992 C2S which will arrive in June. As I am over 70 YOLO dictated that I had to have a manual thus Porsche made me upgrade to the S.

I had a 997. It was plenty fast for me. I loved it. But... in the back of my mind was a little voice that kept thinking I shoulda got the S. It was mostly when I wasn’t actually driving the car, but it was there. And then, over time and when you’re used to the speed such that it doesn’t feel as fast as when you bought it (this always happens to me) the doubt becomes real and then you starting wondering again.
Point is this. If it’s your first 911 and you can afford the S then get the S. Otherwise you will always wonder.

Is that actually true? The Base and S use the same engine/exhaust. The variable is the turbos (and presumably ECU mapping to take advantage of the larger turbos). Under no boost, aren't they otherwise identical in output?
