Bought mine Oct'20.. first Porsche, first car over $100K, $150K for that matter, off the lot dealer spec, which happened to match 95% of what I had spec'd out online for months. I took that as divine intervention that I must buy this car. No regrets so far except that white paint, black plastic bumper rear wheel wells need some sort of protection.. hmmm, might start a thread on that

As for arctic, it has been a quite warm winter again...but arctic air hitting area this weekend with single digit highs and negative lows without wind chill.
Ah yes, the Chicago windchill ... luckily where we are we seldom have much wind (except of course yesterday) but temps slated to dip down to 40 below; if we get severe wind we could see a repeat of several years ago; it actually dipped a few degrees below that, but this is as low as the thermometer would go. Yes a four dog night and the kids had extra straw in their condos

^ This issue for us in Chicago isn't the wind chill. As it pertains to us Porsche 911 owners who don't use it as a daily driver and don't have winter tires, the issue is that we cannot safely enjoy our vehicle at below 40 degrees.

And we haven't had an above 40 degree day in well over a month. So we are sad and angry and have reverted to getting drunk and beating our wives

Sorry to read that so many don't use their cars all year. If you only knew the amount of time and cash Audi/VDub and Porsche spend winter testing (I worked for the VDub/Audi/Bentley arctic test center for a season in Fairbanks) here and in the Scandinavian countries. Get some winter rims/tires and enjoy (and stop beating up the wife )

It has been my #1 dream car since I saw a 964 in California at age 5 or 6 and asked my dad what kind of car that was. I still have a poster of a silver 996 I bought in 5th grade on my bedroom wall in my parent's home to this day. I was going to wait 3-4 more years to get one but my wife is actually the one who pushed me to get it now since we don't have kids yet. I plan to hold on to this one for a long time.

I live downtown so rarely drive as it is and wife has X3 for dicey weather/roads. My 911 is solely for good weather. Have had snows on my M3 etc when I used to have to weekly drive. A hassle though to store and change, hated it.

Tomorrow looks decent so I'll probably take out for some exercise before gets really cold!

I guess it makes sense if you live downtown in a large city. Though I drive all my cars year round, there are limits. In order of appalling weather and road conditions from light to last resort: RS5, Macan, Touareg, Olga my skid steer with an 85 inch Erskine snowblower and if all else fails I have my siberian huskies. If they can't get through it probably means one should stay home

I literally died laughing at this as I USED to think the mosquitoes in Green Bay, WI were bad until I talked to several folks from Alaska! They seem to get even more hardy the colder the climate gets. LOL

a) Why?
b) Because there was an allocation, last year, with my name on it so I HAD to grab it.

Actually Porsche really doesn't lie when it comes to their advertising ... there really is NO substitute! I had Porsche's and then I had other cars ... now the last two have been Porsche again. Plus I'm getting older (much) and I want to drive it the way it was designed to be driven while I still have the skill set and reactions to do so.

You have no idea, they're the size of B-52s and they're truly hungry by the time Spring arrives; yep a Cab is not really a big seller here

I could not see paying 90K or so for a used 991.2 so I got a lightly optioned 992. I was also tired of waiting (18 months) for my C8 Corvette convertible. I'm 71 and want my car NOW. Vettes are bringing 20K over so I might as well get what I really want.....PORSCHE!

Had a 718 like many others, been eyeing a 911. Then a good friend died at young age, which makes you think. I said I can afford it, you only live once and its not going to change how my family lives, so why not.

Had the calipers done and the shop did a little advertising with it!
