I liken it the front plate; growing up with cars all having front plates seeing cars without them at first looked weird. Like they were naked, seriously, but after a while you get used to it and for the record none of our cars in the US have them. And of course here in the US people go on about it as if it's almost sacrilegious to even consider putting one on.

Damn, guess I’m a fair weather pretty boy, good article .

One thing I would like to add to the conversation, I had a 2002 C4S with rear wiper and during an Indy visit the tech scratched the **** outta the paint near the park position when he dropped/moved the arm sans wiper blade, I made a mental note to never spec wiper again . Living in Vancouver it seemingly precludes a wiper but I don’t miss it surprisingly.

Ha! While the article does provide a really interesting overview of the history of rear wipers and 911s, I love that the guy clearly has an axe to grind. This quote was a favorite:

Or how about

Not exactly impartial reporting!

That cracked me up to. How about just don’t want it or don’t feel like it is needed, no moaning or wailing.

The way I look at it, it is one less thing to freeze to the car, break and then get faded by the elements and look like crap in a few years.

Edit: Considering most 992s are twin turbo water cooled engines mated to a PDK………I’d say tradition has already pretty much left the building.

How many people say "I just love the look of a windshield wiper-- they are so beautiful that I can't imagine not having one on my rear window". If you live in a very rainy or snowy environment, the wiper may have some functional value-- but really, does it make your heart beat faster to see a 911 with a windshield wiper on the rear glass?

Well, then, it is $370 extremely well spent.

I decided against the Targa because the rear wiper was not an option.

No rear windshield wiper for me: A.) Not available with the Light Weight/Noise Reducing Glass option and B.) No Rear Windshield Washer.

I would think mud flaps would go good with the windshield wipers? They are very functional too. Seriously.
