Hey @Master Deep Good advice, been reading up on the situation in Portugal and the police do have access to detector detectors - and there are news stories (and forum posts) where they've caught drivers using them although only one in the last few years (maybe it's because detectors have got smarter?)
The fine in Portugal is between 500 - 2500 Euros and confiscation of the device. Speeding fines are between 300 - 2500 euros (dependent on speed over the official road limit) but the biggest issue would be the penalty points they impose - which would really spike already expensive insurance.
I saw a forum post (back from 2014) where a guy relates his experience of being caught. He was tailed for a mile or two by the cop, and he hid the device in the glove compartment. The cop then pulled him over and told him if he gave up the Valentine and paid the 500 euro fine then they wouldn't seize the car (which they can do). Is it possible that their detectors are so good they can actually differentiate between radar detectors? seemed unlikely to him (and me) so he assumed they must have seen the actual device.
The Redline is big and prominently placed and fairly visible within the car and I'd almost be more worried about a policeman noticing the device at the traffic lights for example.
I have a Radenso and ALP custom install. The cost varies on how you choose to install. I went for a completely removable back-to-factory option and custom overhead console 3D printed module for the Radenso unit from Systems Unlimited, Bellevue, WA. I have three ALP units front-mounted and 2 in the rear plus the GPS and twin radar detectors front and rear behind the rear/front bumpers. Radar detection is amazing and I have detected radar Ka-band over a mile, and seen the trooper in the median when I eventually spotted him. ALP is 100% if you install enough heads and they are correctly aligned and have the latest updates. For a 992 three in front and 2 in the rear is sufficient as the target area is so small there is little chance that a lidar could hit anywhere that the ALP heads would not detect. ALP alarm is great and as long as you JTK (kill your jamming as soon as you get hit and have reduced to the speed limit) the officer won't know you jammed his lidar as he will see a reading at the speed limit or below. ALP has great updates and keeps you ahead of the lidar anti-jamming technology that we see in newer guns. Radar detectors will detect laser, but that is not effective as you have already given a speed reading by the time you hear the tone. Basically, they just tell you that you just won a ticket :-) Radenso has other cool features such as GPS lockout, auto ALP kill, night modes, directional voice, visual arrows for front and rear, and the ability to set custom band detection based on location. I don't have X band active in WA, for example.
Did you consider the mirror display module to eliminate the need for the box? Does anyone else have the Radenso RC M radar detector, and if so, have you installed with the mirror display? Is it worth the money? I live in Texas where laser jamming is illegal, unfortunately.
On a side note, I bought a radenso pro m in may from crutchfield. Worked perfectly but I sold the 992. Anyone interested, I’ll ship it to you for $300.
I didn't consider a mirror fit, but it would have been useful and more integrated. The unit I have works well and is easy to manually cancel false unwanted alarms. I imagine a mirror fit with properly designed and accessible cancel and programming controls would work well too.
What about false alarms? They drive me nuts with older detectors. Does the V1 Gen 2 false alarm much?

On a modern radar detectors, you can set up filters that reduce the false alerts. While you can now safely disable X band as a general rule (Ohio was the last hold out that was still using X band), Pennsylvania state police still predominantly use K band — and they’re not the only ones. It really depends upon where you do your driving.
It’s important to do your research and know what you’ll be encountering. I update my radar detector setup depending upon where I am traveling.
I am looking at a concealed install and am starting to get interested in the Radenso RC M integrated with ALP. ALP is clearly the gold standard for Laser. Does anybody have any feedback of the RC M radar detection?
Waze and a radar detector is the way to go. You’ll see the cars that other Waze users don’t see. I am thankful that I don’t solely rely upon Waze.
And this is definitely true when you don't have a lot of Waze users around you as I live in an older, more tech-challenged, rural area. However, whenever I'm traveling towards / in the Knoxville area, the number of Waze users dramatically increases.

I have a V1 gen 2 and want to add ALP protection. But I’m also playing the Theia waiting game and am not sure if it’s a waste to add ALP now — i.e will it be a big expense to integrate Theia into an already-installed ALP?

Yes, ALP is easy to run standalone. Many people do it. Mine was not integrated into a detector.
