I keep hoping that the aftermarket will come up with a more suitable replacement.

Of course, things could be worse . . . . .
.

My Braun has approx 200000kms all at redline and not a single warranty claim/issue.

Porsche could learn a thing or two here...

I fully appreciate and enjoy what a PDK can do but this just looks sooooooooooooooo much better.

Disagree. The manual shifter plopped in the 992 console looks like the afterthought that it is. The interior was clearly designed with the PDK shift mechanism as a primary transmission control mechanism, and as such it has the same aesthetic as the rest of the switches and surfaces.

Au contraire mon frere ! (just to the opposite)
The car looks, and feels , sooooooooo much more appropriate with the manual ! It looks weird with the shaver shifter, practically all car enthusiasts agree.

Don’t conflate “enthusiasts” wanting the manual, and how it feels to drive the car with a manual, with how the manual shifter looks in the console. I haven’t seen a poll where the oft-cited but non-defined “enthusiasts” and all “other” 992 owners were asked whether - performance, ownership preferences and driving dynamics aside - the manual gearshift lever or the PDK lever looks best in the console. On the heels of that poll, I’d like to see the same question posed to industrial designers.

Another sign of inferior quality now that VW owns Porsche.

I don't know if I'm alone on this, but when I see a parked sports car, I always look inside to see if it's a manual

Those cracks all look like abuse to me. I know your wives or girlfriends cracked them trying to hop over to your side of the car! You aren't fooling me! lol.
