TPMS Error service necessary

Brand new 992 Turbo S, fiddling around with settings in the garage to learn the car, in the process I changed the tires from Summer to Winter and back again. TPMS goes into measurement mode.
Ok, excuse to drive around. Drove >15 for 20 minutes and finally it says: "Tire Pressure Monitor Error Service necessary". Wha?!
I noticed my tires were set by the dealer too high 40/50 instead of 38/48 (full load), so I removed 6psi from each, changed the settings again and tried again and still error.
I'm heading to the service center next week for wheel powder coat anyway but failure on a brand new car with < 50 miles? Anybody else?

Try the relearn mode on the PCM. Then, measure again. I can’t recall the exact nomenclature on the screen, but I experienced something similar when I swapped the wheels.

That happened to me when I had a borrowed wheel without sensors.
After getting the original wheel back, I set it up to winter tires, let it learn, and then back to summer. My impression is that the ECU gives up interrogating the wheels after some time. If it doesn't work, a PIWIS reset should be quick.

Only thing I’ve read that can cause potential issues is if you put it in reset when you’re within 20 feet of other sensors. Not sure if that’s applicable here or what the chances of it actually happening are (i.e. connects to other sensor first and then obviously loses connectivity when you drive away).
When I got my new wheels and realized I didn’t have TPMS after a few days of driving, I got new ones installed and it learned instantly (after a total of a couple weeks without).

As stated above, if your summer tires were close to your car when you did the swap, your car is likely tied to the summers. Make sure your summers are 30 foot away after swapping.
You can try this sequence to see if it will help:
Back out of your garage (away from your summer tires by a nice distance). Car off. Ignition only on. Set car to summer tires and normal load. Ignition off. Ignition on again, set tires to winter and whatever load you want. Ignition off, Start the car and see if that recognizes your TPMS.

Thanks for the ideas. I actually wasn't changing tires just fiddling with the controls causing it to go into measurement mode and then failing.
Though, I now realize my car was right next to my wife's Cayenne the first time I did it.
However I have tried again about 5 more times not next to her car so must just be a fault. Maybe I should try to first have it measure "Winter" and then go back to "Summer".

Just wondering have you fixed this error eventually? I swapped my winter tire/wheel with summer tire/wheel today and encountered the same error. Still trying to fix it.

Wife’s macan did the same, 2 months old and tpms just wouldn’t read even though it was reset multiple times.
Also pressures were all over the place when it initially worked......used two gauges myself and they both read as perfect.
Dealer had the car for a week, did 400 miles in it, had to replace the whole tpms system in the end.
Apparently front right was trying to read rear right, back left trying to read front right..... who knows why or how, but I’m not touching it ever again!

Do not have a 992 Turbo S, I have a 991 Turbo S. I know you are running different size tires front to rear but those pressures still seem very high.
Unless you have the cabin and frunk full of cement those tires pressures won’t make for a comfortable drive. My fronts are 31 & rears 34 with 305 20’s on the rear.
Also it can take a day or more to reset TPMS after a change. Try resetting and be patient.

Thanks for your reply! Do you know what your service center has done to fix it? My dealer swapped the tire/wheel for me at the service center and they couldn't fix the error on site and told me to drive 15 or 20 miles to let the system learn. However that didn't do the trick.![banghead](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/banghead.gif)
