Default Racing Yellow vs Chalk Vs GT Silver

I am about to place an order for a C2S, and down to the following colour: racing yellow, Chalk, and GT silver. In that order of preference.

how does each of those colours age ? Also, is the racing yellow a little too flasher that if i am selling the car 5-6 years down the road, it will limit the market appear?

I disagree-- to me, bright colors are reserved for special cars.... a non GT Porsche is not a "special car", it's the upper echelon of "non-exotic/utilitarian". I loved my rosso corso Ferrari, red Ford GT40, yellow Lamborghini and a few other cars that were "special" in bright colors. I love a good orange McLaren, the GT cars in the fun colors etc.

A yellow 992 screams "look at me" in a way that's sort of gauche. It's like the person who thinks a LV bag is special in a world of Hermès and Chanel....
Aw, we can't all live your charmed life and only reserve "special colors" for our "premium cars" vs our "non-premium" 100k+ cars. I believe my 130k car can and should be any shade of color I want it to be. Bright colors are not look at me colors unless you're buying the color for that reason, then I'd suggest that person is a "look at me person" rather than the color. Pick the color you believe the car looks best in. End of story. RY FTW. Your response to the original poster is pretentious as f**k.

I would say that resale-wise, GT Silver is the safest bet and then Caulk. If you are questioning if Racing Yellow is too flashy, then it’s too flashy for you. Also likely harder to find a buyer when you’re ready to sell. Buy the color that pleases YOU!

oh no, wasn’t questioning whether racing yellow is too flashy for me. That is my first preference. I’ve had bright red and blue cars before.
For me, Porsche was always a yellow car.
but more if I was to sell it later on, would that colour limit the potential resale price and market.

I would think Racing Yellow would limit it’s marketability.

Chalk with black accents .. classy and attractive but not ostentatious (Yellow) nor ubiquitous (Silver)

To many people (including me) the yellow is too flashy. So in that regard, yes it somewhat limits marketability. But in the end, what are we talking about 1k, 2k? If you like it, get it.

Btw, I could make a somewhat similar argument with Chalk. Personally I would've never gotten my chalk 992 if I didn't see it in person. I do not like white cars. Chalk in pictures looks white. Still safer than yellow though.

My C2S (arriving this month) is chalk with black wheels, and a carbon fiber roof. My second choice would have been GT silver and then black. I don't like racing yellow (and have owned a red ferrari, a yellow lamborghini). IMHO, a non GT Porsche is not "special enough" to be in a flashy color. YMMV

If you don’t care about the significant depreciation hit, get the color you want. If you do care, get colors that do well at trade-in/resale (white, black, silver, grey, dark blue)

Are you buying the car for yourself or the next owner? Would hate to spend so much money on a car and not get the color I wanted. Get whichever color makes you the happiest. If you are concerned about losing a few bucks in depreciation then maybe buying a $130k+ car isn’t the best financial move.

I say get whatever color you like best and not worry about what the next guy 4-5 years down the road will want. I love Racing Yellow, I think it looks great. Yeah, it’s “flashier” than silver or chalk, but I feel like I see plenty of “flashier” color cars on the roads these days. Flashy colors aren’t reserved just for 6-figure sports cars. Also, you might get a bit more $ for Chalk when it comes time to sell it, but remember it cost $3200 more right now to get that color over Racing Yellow.

If you like yellow, get yellow.

it likely will be a little more difficult/costly to sell. So what?

Thanks for all the feedback/inputs.....Usually I don't worry about the paint choice, as I typically lease my car for 3-4 years, so I get what I want, and return the car hassle free. With the lease rates so terrible at Porsche Canada, this time around, I will be paying for the car outright, and if 3-4 years down the road, I catch the new car bug, then I'll sell it. Just a bit hesitant to put out 160Kish CAD on something, and making a choice now that will hinder me in 3-4 years, either in terms of time it takes to move it, or lower resale. Really not even the resale value, more so the time wasted to move it in the future.
When I would be happy with either RY, Chalk, or GT Silver.

RY is flashy and will draw lots of attention...make sure you have seen chalk in person as it looks great to me in sunlit pictures but also like wet cement when cloudy...and GT silver is just a timeless classic...which do you prefer?

So, I have a MY20 in RY and absolutely love it. Went all in with yellow tach and seatbelts. Absolutely no regrets. What convinced me was a buddy with a 718 in GR and every time he pulled it out of the garage, had the thought of "wow, that is stunning" and NOT "wow, that guy must want everyone to look at him." Another friend just took delivery of a MY21 992 in Chalk and it is also gorgeous, just differently. Like mine, he opted for the clear taillights and black PORSCHE and model emblems, which IMO actually look better on his car. In the end, it is YOUR car, and how often do we get to do this in life??
