I considered chalk and my only concern was that so many pics I've seen it basically looks white in some light. But what is hard to tell is whether that is the light, the color in the light, or the camera compensating exposure because it thinks it is white...
This is what I want to see when I look at chalk.
Chalk looks that way in most lighting conditions, especially when not in direct sunlight or at dusk. Sometimes when people post photos on the forum, they are washed out. I, too, have a Chalk 992 that is 70 days from my build lock, and seeing the color in person really helped cement the choice. It does not look white or close to white at all (…contrary to some posts). It is a very obvious shade of gray.

I didn't have a chance to see a chalk 992 in person prior to locking my build. It was only ever going to be Chalk or Blue. I went with Blue and am quite happy though I think I would have been as happy with Chalk.
Thanks for all the + head-ups and encouragement. I've never heard a disparaging word about chalk. As stated, I need to see one at a dealer because stalking and following a chalk 911 on he street is no way to make a decision. Problem is.... I asked my SA to let me know when one is passing through and that was 2 months ago.

You may find a user on here who has one and is near you who you could meet up to see the car. I had such an offer but didn't get a chance to do so before my build locked.

You should easily be able to find a Chalk colored Panamera, Taycan, Macan or Cayenne at your local dealership if you just want a closer look at the color.

I have heard that the Macan Chalk (not sure about Taycan etc) is different (darker) than the 911 Chalk. This came from my SA.

Besides my 992 there are only TWO or THREE Chalk 911's in my local area. Mine and a 991.2 GTS. I saw the other one in person at the dealer prior to it being sold and then again another Fashion Gray (Close similarity) in a 991 Turbo that was in the lot. Other than that...that's it. THere is a CHALK Macan and Cayenne on the lot tho I;ve seen in the service lane.
Interesting. I also seem to think chalk looks darker on macans. When I look at my chalk 911, my first response is white. When I look chalk macans. I see chalk. Maybe my mind is playing tricks on me. #pakalolo

Chalk on a cayenne doesn't do the car justice- there's too much truck and is slightly off on a cayenne (can't figure out if it's the wheels or that I've only had black cayennes) but seems perfect on a 911... the winged gt3 in chalk just looks amazing as well
Configuring a Targa GTS in chalk/ black. I've owned six 911's and a few Cayennes and Macans and all have been black. I was totally psyched about chalk untilI saw a chalk 911 and Macan on an overcast day. MY OPINION... the color looks terrible on an overcast day. I've seen a few on a bright day and at night and it looks incredible. Thinking about changing the color. Any thoughts about my observations?
I'm down to 3 colors on my build and I kind of agree with you here. Chalk looks incredible in some lighting. Especially when it's brighter but looks pretty dull in overcast and at night time. It's a very polarizing color. People either love it, or hate it. My friendly counts tends to reveal, car folks love it, regular folks think it's ugly beige grandma refrigerator old man pants color.
I do think it fits the 992 body well. Now that I'm getting a chance to spec a car, it's not a slam dunk as I originally thought.

100%. The shape of cars really affects colors a lot. Also certain shapes lends themselves to certain cars. I.e. CWM looks much. more white and bright compared to CVM on a Panamera. Chalk looks awesome on a Macan. less awesome on a Panamera or Cayenne. Leaning towards looks good on the 992.
