Default Width of the 992

So I am just about ready to order a 992 C2S, but wondering how ‘fat’ the 992 really is.
my garage door is 8 feet wide, will I be able to drive the 992 into my garage comfortably?
I am just worried, since the 992’s rear looks so wide. Are the dimensions on the spec page good measure of the car’s width?

Eight Feet is plenty of room.

8' = 96"

Width w/ mirrors folded 72.9"

Width 79.7"

You will be fine - remember this is the biggest 911 yet but contrary to the critics it is still a small relatively compact car - try putting your adult friends in the back seats and they will attest to it

The bigger issue is once through the garage doors will the walls be far enough away to allow for easy egress. Hopefully your garage is a lot wider than your doors

i have 1.5 ft on either side after the door entrance. So hopefully that is enough.

In addition to this toy (Porsche 911) I have others that must be accommodated in my garage. To that end I marked out the floor with painters tape (like Les Nessman from WKRP in Cincinnati, I suppose) and placed an aim-able $28 Laser "X" light that is plugged into my Garage Door Opener Light Socket. This allows me to safely park within a matter of inches of where I can stay out of trouble. A Tennis Ball on a String would function just as well, but I can't leave something like that hanging from the ceiling when the car isn't in the garage. Plus, to be perfectly honest, this Laser Light just has a certain amount of "Coolness" factor that i like. There are a number of manufacturers of these Laser Light things. FWIW, the one I used is the "GoodChief Universal Garage Laser Line Parking Assist".

that is an awesome idea, I’ll have to check out the Laser X gadget.

I don’t think I will run into issue with the depth of the garage, it’s fairy long, just it’s narrow. At least 22 foot long, with a shelf and door, i probably have 18-19 feet of space. I believe the measurement of my garage is 12x22.

It should be enough but will be tight. Make sure to stick foam mattress to the wall so you don't have to be afraid of scratching your door when it inevitably pushes up against the wall.

I honestly don't think it will be tight. I can fit my Dodge 2500 in a 8' door with the mirrors folded in. Plenty of room.

It’s really not that wide. My tiny Alfa Romeo 4C is an inch and a half wider than my 992 C4S. Somehow, the Alfa manages to be wider and about 20” shorter than the 911.😜

I don’t know how I feel about parking gadgets. IMHO, you’re better off just knowing the width of your car.

The doors on a 992 are long and pretty thick. If you can’t open it wide you end up exiting backwards as much as out.

I was not referring to the garage door, I was referring to the rest of the garage. OP said he will have a foot and a half between the car and the wall. That makes getting in and out of the car tight.

A well meaning person form Oz would make a YouTube video of this and post it for the benefit and critique of the masses.

Thanks all for the feedback, help ease my worries a little. Lol
The width of the garage is 12 feet, the door is 8 feet, so I am estimating 1.5 of space each side from the garage door.

the joys of living in a downtown Toronto house, tight with not much space. And I don’t want to park it outside in the driveway.

Love the laser!

I used to do a foam ball on a long string attached to the garage door opening mechanism.

couple of pullies screwed into the ceiling, when the door was open the ball drops, when closed it pops back up.
