hi folks - i am looking to purchase a dealer demo 2020 c2s (see https://rennlist.com/forums/992/1221...l#post17010414). the car began its warranty period in feb'2020 but has only 20 miles on it. if i purchase it, i will have lost 9 months of the warranty. the sales rep confirmed the car can be cpo'd if i would like at a cost of $3700 (per sales rep - "$3,400 to PCNA for the warranty and $300 to service to do the CPO 100+ point inspection, road test, and post road test evaluation. ").
couple of questions:
1) is it worth cpo'ing this car? this is 2 years added/ unlimited miles/ no deductible to the remaining warranty.
2) is $3400 the dealer cost of a cpo? from what i read on this forum, it's closer to $2500 but not sure if that's current information.
thx.

I was recently quoted $2200 for CPO on a Macan GTS. I don't know if the pricing varies by model though, do might not be helpful.

Price will fluctuate depending on dealer...
Ask yourself a few questions: Your current warranty will last another 3 years and some change. How long do you plan on keeping it?
If you keep it for a longer period, another 2 years and ~3K on the purchase price for peace of mind, is not that bad of deal. And Porsche CPO is a comprehensive coverage, unlike some of the other exotics.
If you plan on keeping it 3 years and reselling, the CPO will also help on the selling side as well, as it would be more desirable to buy your car with a CPO than not.
On the flip side, if you are going to sell within 2 years, that would still leave a year or so on the original warranty, which still give the new buyer some warranty left, probably not worth the extra 3K cost on your dime.

$3700 for 9 months..... it has no miles on it and I’m sure in perfect condition. I’d say it would be a barter between the asking price, discount, and adding the cpo in.
Me, I’d tell them to think hard about if they want the sale to go through or not, I’ll take it as is but want to get the tyres checked for flat spots and want a mega sized discount to take a car that they won’t factor cpo into the price.

CPO cost has been recently increased .. it is 3400 if I recall correctly
it is not worth buying
because you can always buy extra OEM warranty if you are going to keep the car and it is cheaper

Only an original buyer can buy the 2-year extended factory warranty, which is different than CPO (which can be applied to any used Porsche up to a certain age that adheres to the prerequisites). If the warranty has already been punched it could mean that OP would technically be the second owner and ineligible for the 2-year factory extension, hence the offer to make it CPO.

My car is a CPO, I was not charged for this. It could have been hidden in the price, but I believe a CPO is worth it on any used Porsche. In order for Porsche to CPO a "used" car they need to go through a strict guideline. If you can get it CPO at the dealer cost, do it. if you want to pay for it, think of it as buying an extra 2 years of warranty.
Note my build is a 2020 C2S , I purchased it CPO with 2300km (1430 miles). I have the remaining factory warranty plus 2 years.

just to confirm the cpo parameters:
1) original car warranty punched in feb'2020
2) looking to purchase this car in nov'2020
3) original warranty runs through feb'2024
4) cpo warranty if purchased extends to feb'2026? is that correct?

FWIW, stop worrying about what the Dealers cost is. The only cost you need to be negotiating is the OTD cost that you'll be paying. Getting into discussions with a Dealer over how they come up with the OTD price is a game that they will win every time.
Stick to: "This is what I want and this is what I'll pay." How the Dealer comes up with the OTD price is their prerogative. What I write a check for is mine!

fwiw, i am being offered a 14% discount off msrp on a 2020 c2s demo with 20 miles (practically a new car). the store is currently asking for $3700 for making this car cpo ($3400 for the warranty, $300 to do the 100+ point cpo inspection). claim is that $3400 is the "dealer cost" for this warranty and that's being corroborated by @pitt911 in this thread, but i also have others telling me dealer cost is $2700.

Ya, I'm not sure about dealer cost to be honest, like I said mine was probably included in the price. I know most CPO cars in Canada are a little more expensive and the dealerships here don't ask if you want to CPO it or not. They either CPO the car and sell it like that, or don't. And the reason they don't is because there is too much work to do on the car (that's the mentality here). and the ones they do they are "guaranteeing" that the car is as good as new.
You are correct about the warranty. if the car was delivered and sold in Feb 20 the new warranty including the CPO would be until Feb 2026 Despite when you pick it up.

on a related note - the car landed on the dealer lot on 2019-10-22; it was due for its 1y/10k mile service on 2020-10-22. dealer has agreed to do this service if i decide to purchase this car; however, i have asked them to make the "true" 1y/10k mile service (which will happen in nov'2021 if i purchase the car) free of cost to me. they are pushing back. am i making a reasonable request given that the first 1y/10k mile service will have been done before the car was sold? thx.
