SavageGeese 992 review

After waiting over a year for SG to do this review, I didn’t realize this would be another PDK vs. MT debate lol
Both transmissions offer different feels of engagement. I’d never PDK shame someone or vice versa. There is no wrong choice.
I thought it was interesting that the 992 MT is actually lighter than the last gen 991.2 car by 5%, even with the wider track. Might as well call it a Carrera T 2.0 🤪
Also sport only opens one valve and sport+ opens both.
I need to drive in sport+ more

I wonder if so many people are up for the PDK because they never drove a manual. Many tracks offer reasonably priced training in the use of a standard gear shift. Only then, can a person determine if they enjoy the art of shifting more than letting a super intelligent gear box do it for them.
Just my two cents.

Thanks for posting the video.

I don’t believe the overall car was noted as being 5% lighter, that was a comparison of the weight of the bodies-in-white.

Regardless, Porsche certainly appears to have paid tremendous attention to detail and designed & built a fabulous latest iteration of the 911.

The video commentary is a bit vague, there isn’t a perfect apples-apples comparison, and the sync of the voiceover and the video is confusing. The 3295# weight of the Savagegeese test car on the graphic in this video compares to 3230# on Savagegeese’s review of the 2019 991.2 T (both MTs, so no PDK weight effect; around 11:30 in that video). The “5% lighter” comment appeared to me to be referencing the chart at 6:10, which shows exactly a 5% reduction from 991.2 to 992, which on the chart’s vertical axis identifies this as a comparison of body shells
Though 3,295 definitely puts it in Carrera T territory.

Unless they’re specifically referencing the BIW chart at 6:10, which matches the statement exactly, we don’t know what they’re comparing, as they didn’t say.
If the implication that 3295# as weighed represents 5# less than a 991.2, and the 992 is 5% lighter than a 991.2 as an assembled vehicle, it isn’t. That math says a similar 991.2 as theirs would have been 3470#. Maybe there’s a really porky 3470# 991.2 MT coupe out there somewhere, but it would be far from typical.
