After waiting over a year for SG to do this review, I didn’t realize this would be another PDK vs. MT debate lol

Both transmissions offer different feels of engagement. I’d never PDK shame someone or vice versa. There is no wrong choice.

I thought it was interesting that the 992 MT is actually lighter than the last gen 991.2 car by 5%, even with the wider track. Might as well call it a Carrera T 2.0 🤪

Also sport only opens one valve and sport+ opens both.

I need to drive in sport+ more

For me it's a speed vs enjoyment. If I want enjoyment, I buy a Miata or something similar in a standard that I can fling around the track. If I want speed, I go pure PDK, or DSG for an Audi RS. No human can shift fast than a DSG or PDK. Also if you tune these cars, the PDK transmission can handle the updated power and torque better than a standard transmission.

Just my two cents.

I nearly always drive in Sport Plus mode, but dial it down on the highway.

I don’t believe the overall car was noted as being 5% lighter, that was a comparison of the weight of the bodies-in-white.

Quite possibly; that number didn’t stick in my mind from the video, and is a comparison across 992 configurations. The above I commented on was a weight comparison between 992 and 991.2.

Overall weight at 3,295 is 5% lighter than 991.2. Reversing the trend.

Body-in-white is at 6:44 regarding dynamic & static stiffness.

I believe they are comparing the C2/C2S from the 991.2; not the T.

Though 3,295 definitely puts it in Carrera T territory.

Unless they’re specifically referencing the BIW chart at 6:10, which matches the statement exactly, we don’t know what they’re comparing, as they didn’t say.

If the implication that 3295# as weighed represents 5# less than a 991.2, and the 992 is 5% lighter than a 991.2 as an assembled vehicle, it isn’t. That math says a similar 991.2 as theirs would have been 3470#. Maybe there’s a really porky 3470# 991.2 MT coupe out there somewhere, but it would be far from typical.
