Would somebody kindly take a picture of their eyelet setup please?

The negative mass post of the car (if I understand the term correctly - what the owners manual suggests using as the negative ground attachment) is a good 2-2.5 feet away from the battery (much too far for the eyelet to reach).

You're correct. I used an alternative connection to the frame for the ground wire. Then ran wires out under the front of the cover. Works just fine....

Thats exactly what I did. If you want to store the car for a few days or a long time, it makes sense to plug it in. This way it is no hassle.

CTEK Comfort Connect Eyelet indeed only 15.7 inches long

But CTEK Comfort Indicator Clamp 59 inches long

Use the latter, remove the clamps and replace them with eyelets.
