Default How to wash your car, by Statusdetail - Chicagoland

I had my 996 paint corrected and ceramic coated by Statusdetail. Very pleased. This guy has the expertise and knows what he’s talking about.

Only problem is the 992 in this video is distractingly gorgeous.

Here’s a 15-min video on how a pro washes a car.

That was actually helpful for me (I assumed I knew what I was doing). Although now I need a cool foam gun, a blow dryer, and another bucket with a grit guard :-)

Yeah, I thought I was ahead with my pressure washer and leaf blower. I used to have buckets but figured the pressure washer was better. Looks like I need to get buckets again no too.

@markchristenson let me help a brother out. 4 bucket method with grit gard. Esoteric microfiber rags but use sparingly. Karcher pressure washer w/ attachment for foam soap. Big boi blower. Karcher wet/dry vac for indoor washing.

With the pressure washer/foam attachment & big boi blower. It’s practically a touch free wash.

I have plastic tiles on our garage floor--I can see how epoxy would be more practical for an indoor wash, although I think the tiles would work okay as the water would go through the spaces and eventually evaporate/dry.

More importantly, I feel your pain--no car to wash!!!

I have the same Big Boi blower and am in the market for an electric pressure washer. I've heard good things about Karcher and checked out their website--it looks like you have the K 2 Plus model--why did you pick that one?

I feel lame having just a plain cement floor with a floor drain in my garage. But I do have vinyl covering on the walls and an exhaust fan to remove moisture.

My paint correction/ceramic shop I use referred the K2 plus as they use Karcher brand. German built, and the K2 plus has a sturdy handle. I think the other one has a collapsible handle but it’s rather flimsy. Adjustable pressures and easy to use soap foam attachment.

I'm not a fan of the traditional two bucket method. If you really want to protect your paint, just use the 7-8 microfiber mitt method. I have two buckets. One is the soap bucket. The second is an empty bucket. I dip a clean microfiber mitt in the soapy water and then work my way from top to bottom of the car. I never re-dip a mitt during a wash. I use each mitt once on the car (for a small portion of a car) and then plop it into the empty bucket. It doesn't take more than 7 mitts to do the whole car. I then just wash all the used mitts in the washing machine and then they are ready for the next time I wash the car. The mitts are only like 9 bucks each or something.

EDIT: To clarify, the second bucket does have water in it and a grit guard. That way when you dump the dirty microfiber mitts in there, the biggest pieces of debris will sink under the guard. Less to remove when you put those microfiber mitts in the wash.

Thanks. Yes, it looks like the only difference between the K2 and K2 Plus is the collapsible vs. fixed handle (and different attachments that come with it but can be ordered separately).
